I would like to know more about Swift's "comfort zones".

I am located north of Waco Texas. When I was on the Swift website, it showed the comfort zones. I really didn't understand their map. It had a yellow zone, a red zone, and a blue zone. I fall in the red and blue. Along with the zones, there where arrows. What is that all about?

I have read where drivers were chosing their comfort zones. How is this and is there anyone familiar with the comfort zones that live in Texas?

    Thanks

Well the idea is that you could chooxe a comfort zone and your load would originate and deliver within that zone. But using a comfort zone can really limit your loads.

People choose a zone in order to avoid certain areas. Mainly people try and avoid the northeast.

CQ KE5WDP DE KQ6TP, I will be with swift at end of October after school completes. Do you run HF on the road? if so, what antennae set do you use. Also. thanks NANA for the info on comfort zones. Your posts have been deeply appreciated and have been instrumental in my decision with Swift.

Why thank you ken, I hope you'll be as happy with Swift as I am.

I need to add that currently the west comfort zones aren't being used.

    kenl3417 Thanks this.

Eventually, I look to be dedicated, but I know Swift has policies about how long you have to be their first.
I don't care for the Northeast but I will do what I have to do. I perfer to stay down south because I would be closer to home. I have a wife and 2 kids, so I don't want to stay out a month at a time.

The 2 other major carriers I have worked for, Werner and Tango, pretty much kept me down south with an exception of a load or 2 every now and then.

Home time is important to me. But again, its something that I have to work out with them I guess....

I have enjoyed the Southeast but I REALLY love the west, southwest..... For obvious reasons...
No mobile set up yet.....I look to get a Hamstick and a yaesu 857. I was gonna get them at this up coming hamfest in Belton on October 2nd. But being that I am changing jobs, I may have to put it on hold.

Here is my set up here at the house. As you can tell, I like Yaesu....

Nice shack Ike. Maybe one day we can start a thread about Ham Radio for Truckers. I'm sure they are out there.

A lot of people don't like going there because of the attitude's up there. The tightness of some area's... There are a lot of reasons really.

My reason is my company doesn't force me to go there, so i don't go. I also don't like all the toll roads, a major pia in my opinion. :biggrin_2559: I would go i suppose, if i was asked. I don't mind going to Carteret, NJ.

Well i will end this ramble.. lol. :biggrin_25517:

I am out of Laredo. What is typical for me is I leave from there for either the south/southest or directly north to New Boston, MI. Either way I start out I roll through Pennsylvania/New York sooner or later. I just let Swift roll me around then after two weeks I start heading back down to Texas. Either they just route me down that way or I have a Home Time request already in place. I also roll around Wisconsin and Minnesota. I seldom if ever go West.
