Well it turns out that I was never late for hometime to begin with and up until this past saturday it still hadn't been put in the computer. Been at the house since the 27th. Dispatch called yesterday morning, didnt know it until about 4 in the afternoon. My ringer has been off. A good friend of mine passed away on the 22nd at the age of 24 from stomach cancer, and the last time I was able to see him was May 2008. I went to his funeral on Tuesday, partied afterwards with old friends I hadn't seen in years, some of them have had kids since then, did a lot of catching up, and realized how much I missed. My days of running OTR are numbered.

As much as I like were I'm at now I'm going to C Young Hauling after season is over. We have it all sat up already. There they haul water melons OTR then fruit local I'm thinking it will be a nice way to brake up the year.
Man I hate to give up hourly pay for load pay but the wife says I better find something to do.

Rick calls and says "we have a lot of loads we have to get up to johanna"
I think to myself, Then I guess you'd better find somebody to get 'em there, shouldn't you?
Then he asks how long I've been home. Told him I unloaded in Jacksonville sunday night and didnt have an empty until monday morning. Then he says "what'd you do, go to the race afterwards?" I haven't even watched a race in years. The generation of drivers I grew up on have already either retired or passed away. Not to mention the ASTRONOMiCAL price of a ticket to the 500 these days, if you're lucky enough to get one on race day in the first place.
I fed him a line, told him I'd be ready Saturday, and that was it. They didnt do their jobs when I told them (3 seperate times) when I wanted to be home, so I'm gonna sit here until I'm ready to get up.

that's the way i'd go if i ever make it to citrus.. alot of companies are doing the OTR thing during the off season.. Bowen Bros in Lake Wales does watermelon out and plastic pipe back in during the off season. but ever since Jim left to be the head of some larger company that bought out half of florida citrus crop, my dad said it's not the same..

Yeah Bowen has much better trucks. New ryder trucks with apu's and no speed limiters! But I talked to there safty man and they don't pay for nothing,no wait time or layover brake down nothing! At lest C Young pays 10 bucks an hr for that stuff and the trucks are fast just a lil older.
Have you talked to ether one of them?

Before I sold my truck I was going to try to lease on to Bowen but they wanted three yrs and I only had six months. Didn't talk to Chuck, but after selling my truck and starting with Knight I was reminded that my grand Pappy works for Chuck and he prolly could have worked somethin out.. too late now.

You use the local pay sheets to keep track of your work and hours, then at the end of the week, you drop it off in the "non scanned" trip box in dispatch. Whatever you do, Do Not scan it at a transflow, Payroll will have a hissy fit (wich i think is BULL$HIT, Since we still get charged the $3.23/week for it and cant even use it.)
Logs are still the same, match your fuel time within 30 minutes and make the rest "look" pretty.
