Not to be funny, but about the same amount of time most people would rent an apartment before they buy a house. Once you acquire enough experience-money-stability in life, then go for it. In all those areas, only you will know when it is right. Best of luck to you.

If you lease you are starting a business. No matter how much driving experience you get, it will do you no good if you don't have the basic skills to run a business.

If you don't already have the background I would suggest taking a basic accounting course, intro to macro economics and intro to business course. Also, learn to use a spread sheet program, such as excel.

If you cant make it without buying a truck on your own versues trying to purchase a truck through a company lease purchase plan then you need to stay a company driver. There are very few people who have been able to complete a company based lease purchase. Lease purchases are set up to benefit the company and not the driver.

Dont ever lease a truck from any company!!! Look all over this web sight. Their are thousands of treads on hear about how bad leasing is and how people lost everything doing so. Only a few that made it. If you think you want your own truck go buy one. Its a hell of a lot cheeper than leaseing one. Why would anyone pay a higher payment for a striped down, no power, high milage fleet truck than an O/O spected truck of their choice. Leaseing is an no win no profit deal for anyone but the company that is leasing it. DONT LEASE EVER!!!!
