Cool Re: Any Info on Paschall Truck Lines (PTL)?

Intresting. Well, I don't see me becoming a O/O in the near future, so I guess I'll be alright. Can't start until 11/27 anyways.

    Thanks and keep 'em coming!!

Thumbs up Re: Any Info on Paschall Truck Lines (PTL)?

I rolled for PTL for eight months thru an O/O in '02.
I pulled both Spring ride and Air ride trailers and there are still Spring ride trailers at PTL.
I pulled both HZ/MT and non HZ/MT loads.
I fingerprinted loads on BOTH ends regardless that they "claim" there are fingerprint free loads and no HZ/MT.
They are registered in ALL 48 so one can go anywhere yet usually in the southwest, southeast, midwest, north central, northeast.
You may be given the choice of either NYC or Chicago and when I was there drivers were REQUIRED to go to one or the other as forced dispatch dictates and with respect to ones choice.
Murray, KY is a neat little College town with things to do when stuck there.
PTL main offices are on the south side of Murray with the yard on the north side.
Things may have changed some since '02.

There is a truck/trailer wash bay on site and may be open on weekends now when it wasn't in '02.
There is about a 10-12 bay shop, so getting repairs effected may not be a problem as it seemed it was in '02.
For drivers there is: a Laundry room, a Game room, Phone bank, (communal?) showers, soda/snack machines at the (north) Murray yard.

    Paschall Truck Lines

I received a recruiter letter in the mail, so I decided to go to their website. No-go! The website is down, so I called the toll-free number to let them know their website is offline.

When I called, I talked to a recruiter about their area of operations.

He was very cordial and said that they'll be at the truck show next week.

Current owner-operator rates are .90/mile plus .40/mile fuel surcharge.

    PTL

I used to work for them and I am actually thinking about going back to work for them at present. They are forced dispatched. They have a decent facility there in Murray. You are able to take your truck home with you. I left originally when my miles were not all they were cracked up to be. Take everything that the recruiter says with a grain of salt as always. Orientation is paid and you get to stay at a decent location while there. The auto shift thing is great. Have been driving them for a bit now and would not go back to manual at all.

The reason that they had cancelled the O/O program for a time was that the owners son was pulling freight from the company side to keep the O/O moving. There was some kick backs also being given to a FM on the O/O side. So to gain control of it again he shut alot of it down and brought it back to Murray when they had been based out of Nashville.

    USA Be weary

I just quit from them about 3 weeks ago. If you want miles, then don't go for it. I worked for there Indianapolis fleet, and had a choice of only one dispatcher. I was always going home on a load, which means that if I didn't get home until Saturday morning, I still had to leave on Sunday, forget about my 34 hours home. Btw, I was home on weekends, which by what I hear isn't common in PTL. I'd say something to my dispatcher, and the next week I'd get about 600 miles less. The promises they make to you is not very believable. I was told that I'd get 2500-3000 miles, and be able to pass through home at least once through the week.... never happened. My adv miles was about 1700. I was always sitting, and whenever you had to go for a PM, forget about miles that week. They'd have you sitting for at least 2 days. If you want to talk about there trucks... not the worst. I had broken wipers about 5 times, all of witch they wanted me to get the quick fix. Luckily I have a dealer close by me, which I had to take upon myself to get them fixed (on there dime of course). It's a good starter company to get experiance, if your single and have no home life. If you have a family, there is much better choices.... oh, and don't get me started about there "revised" training policy.... students training students??????? Accidents waiting to happen. Hope this helps.

    Found Information

PTL called me today to tell me that I was hired

I dont know about going with them
There is no driving test during your 3 day orientation

I asked....Will I be with a trainer? No we team you up with another student for 30,000 miles. This seems worse than the dumb & dumber training through Stevens.

You do get 300.00 the first day of dispatch
They are the industry LEADER in there health insurance dont get it for 6 months though (heard this through multi resources)

You get .18 per mile all miles so the training pay seems better than most companies

    You average 4000 miles a week all miles # .18 = 720.00

That 4000 +/- week would equate to about 8 weeks team ( seems like a long time )

My big thing is they allow pets

I went through the whole Stevens Transport thing for the same reason and after training & dumb & dumber guess what they dont tell u, u are still under a 90 day probation period before any pets or passengers are allowed SUCKS

Anyway anyone with any advice...you have to start somewhere and you cant be a job jumper HELP
