I used to work for this company and my problems started right from the beginning. My recruiter's name was Kim M and she was rude and could not answer my questions properly. Trust me, these recruiters get an incentive off each driver they bring in so you are just another bonus check to them. She had to constantly put me on hold to even answer the simpliest questions and acted put out by them. Other drivers that worked there also complained about how snotty she was but apparently she can lie well enough to get drivers in the door. IF YOU CALL AND GET HER AS YOUR RECRUITER, STOP RIGHT THERE!!! Dispatch was worse, when my mother died and I needed to get home to bury her they said "no, your family will wait on you" They were completley insensitive to my situation. This is a bad, bad company who don't care about their drivers. You are just a money maker to them. I advise all drivers to stay away from this corrupt, no good company.

The truth is drivers, I made more money and was home more often working for an O/O with his own Authority..Or even smaller fleets of like 9 to 10 trucks, But these men are not leased to big companies they get the loads their self and pay you when you get back every week..No benefits, but honestly who could afford them working for a big co. I was out 5 to 7 days brought load home got paid about 750.00 to 900.00 and off 2 days and do it again..Most of them pay % not miles..

I just attended orientation on 6-21-2010 and was hired but quit after a few days working for them..STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

your staying at the Super 8 in Murray and its a roach motel..roaches, bed bugs.. no ice machines or pop machines unless in main office..complaining does nothing..

1st day of orientation you are taken from the hotel to the Dr. office to do drug screen/physical..if you dont have a currnet dot phys you will be charged $71 out of your $150 orientation pay for your physical. 7am to 11am just for physicals..then off to terminal.
At terminal you sign your life away, they charge $1500 for recovering your truck if they have to plus lawyer fees ect...another $1500 for truck cleaning for things like odors, stains, rips/tears in upolstery, ect..they issue you an Enforcer kingpin lock and trl door lock set ($175 take out of pay) keys $2ea.

I waited 3days after orientation to get a truck, was a freightshaker columbia autoshift..cab extenders bent to hell and trans wasnt shifting right..I put in shop (it came out of shop earlier the same day) and was told nothing is wrong and if its not DOT we dont fix it..
....most people only stay with PTL 2-4months and leave the trucks at truck stops so 6 people(out of 15) from orientation had to be taken to trucks to recover them in order to get a truck to drive.
.....when you are issued your truck you sign for 2 load locks that must be kept under bunk $40ea, a spare tire lock $10 key $2, tire gauge $20, am/fm radio in truck $145, bunk curtains $375, windshield curtains $235, 2 load straps $8ea, fire extinguisher $47, 3 reflective triangles $15, CB antenna and coax $25ea, Permit pouch $500, spare tire $300, mattresses upper $140/lower $175, Prepass $100 and jumper cables $45...
(I JUST COPIED THAT OFF THE RECEIPT I GOT AFTER RETURNING TRUCK)

detention pay is after 4hrs and only if they collect anything (they tell you they really dont try that hard to get it cuz they wont chance losing the customer)
layover/breakdown is after 48hrs (they will move you or give you a pplan before the 48hrs are up even if it doesnt pick up for a few days..

most of thier trailers are spring ride trailers..with spring breaks...they show you in orientation how to adjust the breaks and expect you to do that during each pretrip...

all communication WILL be on qualcomm as driver managers wont speak to you on the phone..they will answer then say "use the qualcomm" and hang up on you.

you will NEVER be given a shipper or receiver phone number,,EVER!! your lucky if the address is with the directions..

looking ahead to CSA 2010 with this company barely repairing anything, my CDL is my life and I refuse to leave it in thier hands to screw up for me... and it looks to me like everythng they are doing is out to screw the drivers...if not taking your pay them charging you for EVERYthing...

STAY AWAY FROM PTL IF YOU VALUE YOURSELF!!!

Went to orientation this week for PTL. Stayed at Super 8 in Murray, Ky. Room cold as a cave. Continental breakfast was a joke!
Recruiter told me pay was from 0.34-0.36 per mile. In orientation was told I would only be making 0.33 per mile.
Recruiter told me that pay was same west of Mississippi river. Not true either. Pay drops to 0.30 per mile any place west of Mississippi river.
Recruiter also told me that I would be assigned to a truck with a 10 speed transmission. Not true either. Was told in orientation that all of us would be going to different locations across the country to pick up "abandoned" trucks, which were automatics, and when we picked them up, that would be the truck we would drive.
Cannot slide the 5th wheels on the majority of their trucks.
Odds on getting assigned to a truck with an APU is slim and none.

Nothing about the insurance that was presented to me, by the recruiter, was accurate either.
    Another thing.

Most companies use one card for everything. It's set up to buy fuel, pay lumpers, and driver payroll. Not at PTL! First, you will need a score card to remember all this. A Comdata card for payroll, another Comdata card for truck expenses. A EFS card for Fuel. One EFS check for lumpers, A comdata check for cash advances. Hell, I think I got all that right.

Oh yeah. If you have a current health card, no physical.
Also when we were there, no road test either.
Orientation ended on Tuesday afternoon at 15:00. Talk about packing 10 gallon of #### in a 5 gallon bucket, these people can do it.
I came home on Wednesday morning. Seen enough and heard enough to tell me to run, not walk, away from this company.

i used to work for PTL and yes they do have automatic trucks but they do more of the live loads then they do drop and hook so it takes most of your day and at the end of the week youll end up driving less hours...
