    Don’t know anything about them

A automatic will stunt your shifting skills. (If they have autos)

    I prefer a 10 speed.

I have a friend who drove for them. He complained about not getting miles. He said there were weeks when he barely got 1000 miles. This is just heresay on my part. I do not have actual knowledge of this.

There are two divisions of PTL and there are(or were) two different companies tied into one name, or so I heard while there for 8 months thru an O/O leased on. Company drivers and Owner Ops is one division and some select thing/option for some others--I don't recall the name or title.
The other thing about PTL was that the owner was going thru a divorce and may still be and that his x-wife got a "cut" of every mile of every truck.
PTL is also known as: Pass The Load, Park The Load, Partial Truck Load, Pay The Lady, Pre-empTed Load, etc..
SOME of the company drivers got good long runs while the rest got whatever was left over. The dispatchers AND "load" managers were under the impression (when I was there in '02, from what I gathered) that they needed their arses kissed which I never do anywhere yet I got some decent runs occasionally.
Personally I wouldn't roll for them because of the crap I dealt with while there. I had three dispatchers in the time I was there and the last two were constantly sarcastic yet when they received sarcasm, it was like they had never heard it b4 and decided I should sit or talk to the truck owner.
They DO HAUL Haz/Mat and THEY DO HAVE DRIVER ASSIST UNLOADING despite what their ad claims.
They gave me the choice of either NYC or Chicago where I took the Windy. At the time we went to one or the other.
    They have FORCED DISPATCH!
They have spring ride trailers as well as air ride and you'll haul whichever you get loaded or empty. They "said" they were to phase out ALL spring rides by the end of 2002 yet there are still springs riding around this year, so go figure. They did (do) a LOT of switchouts with Teams because of the late times of freight p/u despite when "they say" it'll be ready.
They're like a lot of companies in that they're simply freight ######.
Maybe the shop in Murray has gotten better at repairs since I was there, maybe not.

I went to California twice with them yet after the second time I went there, I stayed with my parents for a week. I never got west of El Paso again.

They called me a little after I split ties(and got cheated) with the O/O and I told 'em "NO WAY WILL I DRIVE FOR THEM AGAIN, EVER", and they seemed kinda surprised. At the time of the call they were switching over to Auto-shift or stickless shift and the trucks were to be either Freightshakers or Internationals in '02.

This has been MY story, where yours can be completely different!!

BEst of WELLness 2-u-n-urs-n ALL (ad)ventures!!

This is from a former driver I was aquainted with, he liked them. "They are small enough to know who you are and big enough to get the frieght." He had an autoshift truck for his last truck. They tend to run more in the south but they have accounts all over the lower midwest.

Another thing is that they run dry vans, so they won't be hauling meat. Just something else to consider. Glad to be of help.:cheese:
