How many out there are leasing a truck from a company and happy/successful with it? Mostly just curious for the moment. If you're a flamer or a heckler of leasing simply pass this post and keep your mouth shut. However, if you are a lease operators, please let me know how you're doing and who you drive for. I'm interested in finding out what companies have a lease program that actually let you pick whatever truck you like. I know I see some companies with drivers leasing varieties of makes and models. If you want to avoid the hecklers, you can private message me. Thanks in advance. I have 5 years experience so it doesn't have to be a rookie company, but I'm not closing the door on any companies, including the big ones.

Well i leased a truck from schneider and done very well with it. They had just about anykind of truck you could wan't. I will say they stand behind you and help you to make it. They wan't you to complete your lease not like some i've heard about. Now its not all peaches and cream but with a lot of hard work and money control you can make a good living over there. They have five skip weeks a year which is every month that has five weeks in it you don't have to pay a payment that week. I will say this if your planning anytime off do it then during a skip week ,Which they will let you move them four weeks each way i think. I really have nothing bad to say about them . I had a very good dispatcher that would run me hard. Most guys that fail in leases because they run wide open which shneiders trucks are and dont control there money. You really have to be on top of every dime you spend . I finish my lease paid the 15,000 dollar balloon payment which if you will put up a payment every time you have a skip week and the remainder of your maintance fund will cover the balloon payment. I have sold my truck but miss it every day. Good luck if you go this route be penny pincher you can make it.

I will agree with Bucktrucker. Only I still am with Schneider (except on the bulk side). I have been here 11 years in April and have made a profit every month I have been here. I am on my second truck. Did the payments on the first one and financed the balloon at the end. (extended my payments for another 10 months or so). Ran it for a year or so and then traded in and got a new one. (had just under a million miles on it when i got rid of it).

He is right, they will work with you. I blew a head gasket in Nov and was down for almost two weeks and called the finance people and they worked with me. I didn't have a skip week due until Jan and they moved it up about 7 weeks instead of the normal 4. (the repair was under warranty I was just down for about 10 days due to Thanksgiving)

If you mind your money and manage time off your can do fine. Most of the STL's (they are your contacts, you don't really deal with the dispatchers as they are mostly in green bay) that have owner operators understand that your have different needs as a company driver. Like i said I have been doing fine.

I'm not a lease driver but just wanted to let you know that if you go to the Favorite trucking co forum and look for the JCT thread which is along thread i think you could also get some answers. JCT or John Christener Trucking is a 100% lease company. hope this helps.

Well technically a profit is one dollar over expenses. How much do you usually clear monthly there at Schneider? Also, how often do you go home? I like to hit the house for a quick 34 fairly regularly. I doubt that's doable under a lease though huh? I don't mind driving slow and easy. And do the fuel surcharges cover the high fuel prettywell if you maintain your mileage?
