So after a fairly lenghty break from driving I will be heading a couple of towns over in the morning to do my orientation with Corsicana Bedding Trucking. I'll tell about the company and my adventures with them on this thread for those who care to read about it. Looking forward to getting started. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

Had a half day of orientation today. They unfortunately use electronic logs so i got to learn how to use their PeopleNet system today and got a fuel card and did the physical/drug test stuff and filled out a few papers. Not much other than that. Going in tomorrow and monday to do some day runs with other drivers to see how they do things and then i should be on my own after that and find out what truck i will be in. They run older equipment and start the newly hired guys like myself in the oldest most basic stuff they have until better things come open. So i wont be riding in luxurious style but I'll be making money and see home a little more than the average OTR guy so Im sure it will be ok.

You have to tailgate a lot of it. Not really to concerned about that as I like to get a little bit of exercise. As long as they are paying good and have steady miles I'll deal with it. They are definitely staying busy right now so thats a good thing.

Pretty easy day today. Got there early and rode along for a short backhaul delivery and came back and did a few things in the yard and was back home before 2 this afternoon and on the motorbike. Going for a day run Monday to Memphis back to Columbia and back to Shelbyville and then hopefully in my own truck running Tuesday.

Just got back in for the day a few minutes ago. Had to go for one more ride along/training run today while they are still getting me set up in the system. Went from Shelbyville to Memphis for one stop and from there back to Columbia Tennessee for a second stop and back to Shelbyville. Got back there and found out I am all clear and got assigned my tractor and my first load. The tractor appears to be horrible but i should have a chance to move into something better pretty soon. Its an old flat top Peterbilt and the sleeper is tiny and the outside is rough! But its a fairly old truck and has a pre ACERT CAT in it so it should at least be nice and strong even if it doesnt look pretty going down the road. Leaving out on my own heading back toward Memphis tomorrow afternoon. Was hoping to get an early load but I drew the last load of the day leaving out so I am just glad they had something to get me started. I think next week is when i will really get put to the test since I will be starting of the week solo and hopefully rolling out for a good start Sunday night. Still to early to tell just how the company is going to be but I will keep the updates rolling in as I have them.

A friend of mine worked for them for a short time. Lots of multistop loads and always driver assist tailgating mattresses. Some stores would even ask him to do more than tailgate because everyone in the store who was supposed to do that was too busy or they were shorthanded. The stores also pay for the mattresses with a check or cash he was never comfortable with that part.

Yeah, its not perfect but its going to keep me a little closer to home and on a more regular basis and the pay per mile is good so I dont mind the work part of it to get my foot back in the door. Was very hard finding anyone to take me with the amount of time off I have had so its great for me for now. It definitely has its disadvantages but there are a few pluses as well. Im just going to try and keep a zen attitude about it all and do what i gotta do and hopefully take home a good check. I can definitely see that its not a job for everyone though.
