The company I'm with gets quite a bit of money on downtime if they're on a well site and it goes down, I'm not sure of the exact figures but I've heard nearly 90 dollars an hour, but don't quote me on that, I know as drivers we get 17.00 an hour. If you're doing well site stuff you're going to most typically haul water, sand, or flatbed hauling drill pipe and what not. What you need to do is just get some contacts and ask these companies for themselves. If anyone on this forum is working for the wells they probably don't have much time to post, best bet is call around.

i been there done that i hated it like everyone said they run you. i didn't have much home time i think otr guys had more home time then me its decent money. but just to warn u its a sit and wait game you hurry to get loaded hurry to unload and somewhere somehow you sit and wait to get loaded. last i heard 0/0 r getting 80 it was up to 125 a year or two i think but as everyone knows you get alot of trucks doing the same thing in the same place cutting everyones throat prices will drop and it soon wont be worth anything. if ur a 0/0 looking to get into it look out for ur truck ruff roads lot of wear and tear on the truck. i once drove up a site that was 1.5 miles up a freaking mtn just wide enuff for ur truck plus you have guys that work on the rig itself flying up and down the road. i did it and got burnt out i took a pay cut but least im close to home so i aint wasting gas going up there and have off holidays and weekends. btw u will probably work holidays and they usually do a rotating schedule like u have off a mon and tues then following week u have off tues and wed. but thats your choice you wouldnt pay me enuff to go back
