I am going to take a 40 hour refresher course next week and I have had offers from WEL, Western Express, CRST, Covenant and FFE. I need help deciding between my two top picks WEL or Western Express. Which one would be a better company for someone coming right out of school. I have gotten some information on Western Express, but not much on WEL. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on any of these companies, but I have made my decision that I will go with Western Express or WEL. On WEL, I would like to know more about the orientation process, do you take road test before you go out with trainer and what kind of transmissions do they have, information on driver trainers(particularly do they sit in the jump seat or do you mostly team drive with them).
    Thanks for any comments.

I have no first hand experience with either company but I pull for a reefer outfit out of Florida and run into a lot of WEL drivers.I like to talk so I start up conversation with who ever is around and I haven't talked to a WEL driver that wasn't happy with them.I just talked to a WEL driver the other day and his biggest complaint wad he was tired,he had like 3500 miles for the week.

I worked for Western Express back in 06' and had nothing but great miles and loved doing flatbed for them based out of birmingham. I only went to nashville to pickup trailers and every now and then a new tarp or bungee chords. It all depends on what you choose to haul. I think once you get that down pact then your decision will come alot easier. Until then good luck and drive safe!!

They were a good outfit back in 06', had a good trainer named Bill out of birmingham, AL. After 4 weeks in the truck I was about ready to kill him and him the same for me. He was one of the most informative trainers I ever had. He taught me to drive, trip plan, save money, and be a professional truck driver. I'm not sure of the company they've become however I'm speaking of how there were. I also would recommend BTC, good luck!

Call back tomorrow and see what is going on with them because alot of times you can get lost in the shuffle. Don't let them off the hook if you really want the job.

I had my first day back at school today. I was a little rusty but tomorrow will be a better day. And I got orientation set up with WEL for next Monday.

If there is any WEL drivers on here I would like to know how you are liking it.

I finished school today and I be off to orientation Monday. But I changed my mine about where am going and decided to go to Western Express. WEL charges you $50 a week for 6 months for training you. The $50 is not a big deal to me but I don't want to be under a contract with anyone.
