Runningman.. its a concrete job... taking from a plant to a site and deadheading back.
If given a choice I wouldn't take a project. I get bored too easily. When I ran uranium it was the same crap... same route... same security BS every week. I'm an irregular route kinda guy. Right after thanksgiving I was offered a 3 month, home a few nights a week, off weekends, "dedicated" job out of Arlington to parts unknown but I refused it. I prefer the oversize and just being away from home. Different from most, I know, but thats the way I like it given I have few family obligations. And since it was, really, less pay and an increase in utilities and gas at home it wasn't an economical choice to take. I'm an el cheapo kinda guy.
They gave me until Tues off. Talking to my DM when I gave him my paperwork Thursday I guess they needed quite a few FE trailers out in MS for a job, but after inquiring more about it he found the FE I was hauling won't be unloaded for a while.. so there was no rush for me to leave since there isn't any nearby anyways.
Dieseldog, I sent you a message. Hit me up anytime. As for a radio, check out GIjoes west of Fort Worth or Wolcott Radio just south of Iowa80. Both have websites with decent pricing. I myself need a new one.. been told recently i'm getting a squeal and/or can't be heard.

Too bad theres not a shop here in Laredo, since it looks like ill be holding down the fort for a little while. Would be a great time to get and install a radio.. lol
-
I made an error in the name of the shop by saying GI Joes.. I meant Clay's Radio Shop.. hes in weatherford.
Anyways, When i've been at the TA in Laredo I've seen a cb guy working out of a mobile truck out on the street beween the TA and Flying J there.. wouldn't hurt to cruise on up there and see if hes out and about. I didn't find anything on google for shops in the area, nor did craigslist show anyone selling one (not that you'd want to that close to the border) so that mobile guy might be your best bet. -
I might cruise on up there later today, if it looks like I wont get out of here. Im a little leary to start my hours just yet. But if the day is shot anyways, theres no harm done.
Oh, and ive heard nothing but good things about Clays. I just need to get a load thatll put me up in that area.. but that's always the trick, right.Mystikal Thanks this. -
The guy in Amarillo next to the TA is supposed to be really good. Got next load, loads Tuesday in PA going to Texas A&M university.

Say hi to the sorority girls for me! Feel free to give them my number. Haha
Got my load this afternoon. Headed to Aurora, IL for a monday AM deliveryAZS Thanks this. -
A&M? Down in Austin? Or am I thinking UT? Loading Tuesday... are you sitting empty until then or do you deliver at the port on mon? I'll find out monday late if I have anything. I suspect sheetrock or Atlas crap to Houston again. Thats the usual load coming outta the house for me. I'm curious whats with the out and backs from Texas tho... we all seem to be cast out to far far away... then reeled back in to Texas. DJ mentioned that when we were down in Laredo and since then i've been playing the same game.CallMeArty Thanks this. -
You were thinking UT! A&M is at College Station. You could start a big fight by getting those confused!
CallMeArty Thanks this. -
