USPS is going broke because people don't really used mailing system much no more.Emails and fax machines pretty much put USPS out of business and of course for other reasons like they always increase the stamp rates and etc.People these days pay bills online and no one mess with mail any more, heck I pay all my monthly bills on line and I don't even get my bills in the mail no more, well just 2 but everything else I get my monthly bills email to me.

That plus the fact that they are not allowed to make changes to maintain profitability. They have to keep the same head count / locations as if people were still mailing like it was 1999.

Well i passed the driving test today, I start orientation in 2 weeks. He picked me up in the next door lot and had me back up 150' to see if i can back up straight. No problem. Then we headed to a vacant building with several loading docks 3 blocks away. I did the basic dock backing moves, straight, offset, 90 deg blind side, and then we when into downtown to play with traffic. It was a breeze, I am disappointed in one thing, the trucks are all auto transmissions. I like shifting big rigs. He also thanked me for not scaring the ##### out of him as he has had some that he has no idea how they even got there cdl. He asked me how long have you been driving? I said how long do you think considering my driving? 3-5 yrs, nope 1 yr.

Silverram Congratulations...don't listen to the going broke folks here. We are a cash cow for the feds. We fund all the retirements and retiree health benefits for every federal employee. That is why we loose money.
As for first class mail...it's gone and gone forever. We do an incredible volume of parcel business. "If it fits it ships" priority mail gets most of our attention now. between all of the postal plants in just the Chicago area we run about 400 drivers 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There are only about 3800 of us nation wide.

Keep your nose clean especially the first 3 months.

You just got the best driving job in America.

I think I read that USPS starts tractor-trailer drivers at $21 and some odd change an hour. I would imagine it's a pretty good place to work. Lots of post office guys are lifers.

Do you think they would allow the USPS to go broke? You are wrong.
