CFI I dont know if this is the right place for this post but here goes. First, I wanna thank everyone here for all the invaluable info over the past few months. I did a lot of research and I picked CFI. I have yet to hear a bad thing about them with the exception of home time issues. If thats all the prob there is, it'll be easy to do a year and then get into a better situation if waranted. Some things I like are: I see a lot of experianced drivers going to them as opposed to running from them. All the drivers I've talked to like it there. They give a 5 or 6 day school at a college, for newbies, to ensure you can pass thier road test. I've been told all you have to do is pay attn. and you will pass. They say most who fail are people that know it all allready and you cant teach them anything type attitudes. They pay .26 cents a mile while training as opposed to a flat rate fee like so many others. Also, my recruiter tells me, the trainer does not sleep behind the student so what happens is it's like a solo driver with a trainer. So your not running like a team. You're getting trained. Your training is a min. of 7500 miles. Not a 3 or 4 week flat rate, team driving no matter how many miles marathon. I've been told it's against company policy for their recruiters to lie. We shall see. I'm a little skeptical on this one but I will give the benifit of the doubt. All company trailers. Newer equipment even for newbies. Great maintainence dept. and safety dept. Skid pad. Free doctor in Joplin. Trainers have to have at least 1 year exp. So I'm set to go on Sat.,Jan. 27. I dont know if there are computers out there. I dont have a laptop, yet. I will try to let you all know how it goes. The first order of business is to pas the road test. If I do that, then My wife is gonna come out in March and go to thier approved college and we will team up after that. Almost forgot about that deal. They have a pretty good training deal. They pay 2K, I pay 1K+ $740. the 1K covers the Crowder college for 1 month. The $740 covers 4 weeks room and board, 3 meals a day for 4 weeks, the Mo. CDL fees, drug test, physical,$75 returnable deposit on damage to the dorm room. Now, in return, you have to pass the course and get your cdl, agree to go to work for them, and pull 1 load. I dont know if the load is after you get away from your trainer or with him but it's a great deal any way you cut it. So wish me luck. I'll be hanging around Joplin all weekend. Thanks again all!!!!

Good luck to you, Scarecrow, and be safe, that goes for more than just driving. I have never talked to one of their drivers that was unhappy. AJ

I had the misfortune of meeting a group of recruits in the terminal tonight. They were arrogant and disrespectful. I hope you were not among them as I sure wouldn't want them representing CFI with that attitude and disrespect to company drivers when they haven't actually made it into the company yet. You see they don't actually hire you until the final day of orientation and they can send you home at anytime because of performance or attitude. At the end of the last day, just before they tell you who your trainer is, they will let you know if you are hired or not. So be sure and mind your manners and good luck.

A friend of ours switched from convenent to CFI and so far he has had nothing bad to say. So I say good luck to you and be safe out there on the roads!

My other thread didn't get any responses, so I'll try this company. Post if you have any good or bad experiences with CFI red racers. Haven't found much with the search feature.
