If it gets too bad or lay offs start coming, I'll go else where.
Yea, im also worried about being layed off as well, we got one guy on injury now and two more dock guys who want to be drivers and they will bump us as well. There isnt enough trucks , normally when everyone is working theres the one truck still there, which is the shop stewards but hes out on injury...

I'm off tonight! Was going really steady but now all hiring has stopped and lots are starting to complain about hours and freight. Only one guy below me and he hasn't barely been working. Now I'm not working. I knew it was to good to be true. Think I'll start looking for OTR again, a good dedicated run. Seems to be the only thing that has ever been consistent for me. I sure am sick of OTR. Gotta make money though. YRC is to unpredictable for me. I should have just stayed away after Yellow put the screws to me.

I hear you there. I havent worked a full week in almost 4 weeks now... And the even terminated two permanent start time positions hence bumping me down the shape. This week we have 3 guys out and I still missed a day of work. We got those three coming back next week, then 3 others coming as well... I believe I am officially getting layed off

Well the problem with me is my back isn't so good. I can only do line haul or OTR. I can't load and unload all day. Not to mention, I like to drive, not pick up and deliver all day. Did that for FedEx Express for 6 months. They cured me of ever wanting to be a local driver! I was a van driver there and it was miserable. I don't know how UPS and FedEx van drivers do it. That is some fast paced hard work! I'd rather work for Conway.

Yea I worked for FedEx ground for a year. By local I meant you can find a gig besides that. I won't go OTR so I'd rather go back to bartending if I have too. I will not go back to FedEx either

Sorry to hear that. It was good while it lasted, which wasn't very long. I believe I'm on the way out too.

You know I've been looking into driving the oil fields but my wife won't move to Texas. Not that I can blame her. Good money though but I heard hard work. Still probably not as bad as FedEx!

I don't mind hard work as long as they pay is decent. FedEx should've paid me more then what they we're. I used to do construction which I really enjoy but working for my dad and him paying me min wage wasn't cutting it. I'm looking to go back into it but into the trucking/heavy equipment operator though which can be hard. If not I'll give up trucking and go into the electricians apprentice program which my friend can get me into. I'm still you g enough to do it

@cool35 Texas would be a big move. Although the oil fields you'd do well in. Just keep looking around there are other good trucking jobs out there. It just sux when you finally like being at a place and they get slow
