Look for a thread on SYGMA and foodservice. All of the foodservice operations are pretty much the same thing. It's a little more than just "hard work". I did it for several years. Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into!

I can't help you with this company, but maybe you can enlighten a lot of newbies here. I see a lot of new drivers wanting to go O/O right off the bat. I always suggest being a company driver for about 5 years, but there is always someone who wants to challenge that. I myself know why I would suggest waiting that long, but as an O/O can you shed some light on it? Thanks. I am not telling people not to do it, but I know a lot of seasoned O/O's going under. When it is all said and done I think that a company driver can do as well in the long run without all the headaches.

Thanx for the info

I know there are plenty of these type companies. Just never really looked into them until lately. Heard all the Small parking lots, slip seating, hand truck unloading crap that these Super Trucker types wouldnt be caught dead doing. But I am a practical guy that needs three basic things in a job: Decent work enviroment,(no place is perfect Understood.) Pay me what the job is worth. (work more make more, work less make less) Good time off benefits. Simple. Not afraid of hard work, not afraid of some agravation as long as the pay is equal to or higher than said agravation.

How's that for a resume

Sure I would be glad to offer my advice about some of my owner/operator good times and bad.
I wish I had known more when I got in, but this is a cut throat business and information given to the wrong person can cost you lots and lots of money and contacts. But for the independant trucker to survive in the future it will take banding together. I personally believe that the "Good times are really over for good" for the owner/operator. Much like the American farmer we are slowly understanding that there is always someone waiting to do it cheaper. I myself have had enough.
This is not to say there are'nt still "nitches" that a man can slip into given alot of hard work and luck. However they are harder and harder to find.
I could be wrong, but that's just MY opinion.

Thanks for your input! A lot of new drivers need to hear that. Some are always in a big hurry to become an O/O. I always say be a company driver for 3-5 years first.
