Any O/O or company drivers work for Thomas Bros Coos Bay Or. Any info regarding Orientation, Drug Testing protocols or other useful info would be appreciated.

They have a long waiting list. Who do you know that can get you hired?

A year ago it was .33 per mile to start, .08 of that was per diem.

They are wonderful people if you can stand driving a gutless Volvo for low pay.

Ouch, that's terrible pay to have a waiting list! Must all be Coos Bay residents.

I think REDBEAN was asking about O/O, not company drivers.

I started with T&S 3 mos ago as a company driver. I have buddies that O/O here and they are very satisfied. We run the I-5 mostly. I make 37 cpm plus 2 cpm safety bonus, and no, I don't live in Coos Bay, OR, I live off the I-5 in Southern Oregon.

Yes, they are a great company from top to bottom. The benefits are great, including holiday pay, sick leave, cell phone stipend, etc. The miles for me have been off the hook. I never sit, plus they get me home EVERY weekend.

As to the "gutless Volvo" remark, I don't know, I drove Petes with Cummins 450's in them for 3 years, I don't notice much of a difference with this D15. I mean, when you're at 79,000 lbs climbing a 6% grade, there's not much difference between going 30 mph and 32 mph uphill, is there?

Orientation is 1 day and you are compensated. Drug testing protocal is standard and random. Most O/O pull curtain vans. We haul mostly lumber south out of OR & WA and beer/wine north.

It is hard to get on with them. However, if you'd like more info, feel free to private message.

If you think you are pulling 6% @ 32 MPH, loaded to 79K with with one of those Volvo's you are smoking way better stuff than I can find. I believe the new mid-roofs have d13's, not d15's.

I think its a way better place to be an O/O (depending on who's board you're on) than a co. driver.

Okay, whatever, man. I guess when I'm climbing a lot of these 6% grades and the speedometer reads 30, it must not really be 30? :)

As far as O/O, no thanks...

I'm on the beer board and my DM is fantastic. He will run me as hard as I want to run, plus gets me home every week, which is why I came over here.

If you see 30 on the speedo going up Ashland, Sexton, Cajon, whatever, in that Volvo, you're smoking some some killer stuff. When I drove a d12 it was more like 18 mph. 30 is 550 Cat speed, and that's working it. I prefer to back out a bit & settle for 28 or so unless it's cool out & I'm trying to pass a Thomas truck or a Mexican container hauler.

Back in the 70's we had the "Monfort Lane" I've taken to calling the shoulder the "Thomas Lane" because up in southern Oregon that's where you guys are, driving on the shoulder with your flashers on while those of us with real trucks get in line to pass you.

Seriously, I've been told that the new mid-roofs have way more power than the old d12's. A buddy of mine there says he's over 30 minutes faster form Corning to his house in Eugene. In my opinion you just can't run a small block motor with a 10 speed in a west coast curtain van operation. The d12 I drove used as much fuel as I do with a C15 in a flat-top Pete and killed my productivity.

I saw in Craigs List that A&M is hiring at .41 per mile base pay. I'm pretty sure they don't have per-diem and I know they won't make you drive a Volvo.

    Just sayin..........
