Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and all that...
So, comin up on 1 year at my current employer and startin to look around for somethin else. The pay is decent when it's un-clustered with ($1K minimum "guarantee"). Runs/miles are pretty decent, and Home time is pretty good (only layed over maybe 5 weekends this year).
But, slip-seat for OTR is ridiculous, driver-to-truck ratio is way off, and some of the bait-and-switch has tested me more than I'd like.
Anyway, me and Momma have a tentative plan to relocate to Tri-City area of Tennessee, but may stay in eastern WV, so trying to find other outfits to explore.
Logged about 135K miles this year, all over the place, all kinds of weather and terrain, and even got to go to Canuckistan!!! Didn't get to actually enter, but that's fine by me!
So, lookin at Beam Bro's, Arnold, Salson, TMC, Ruan, and Roehl. Haven't pulled flats, but did get about 7500-8500m pullin doubles for FedEx from PA to KS, and NC to FL.
Did some diggin and searchin through the boards, and just lookin for a "reader's digest" of these companies if anybody has one.
Probably one of the biggest concerns is assigned equipment, doesn't have to be fast (currently in 63mph truck, so I'm past being fast, can't change it...but a fast truck would be nice! ) and of course decent pay and Home time.
Thanks for any useful thoughts and input!
New Year, new job?
