Transam hires convicted felons. Was talking to one of their drivers once and he said they hired him when he was convicted as an accessory to second degree murder. He helped a friend dump a body apparently lol.
But he did make a valid point. His friend shot and killed another friend in a drunken dispute. He said he wasn't going to say no to someone holding the murder weapon so he helped get rid of the body. So yeah, transam hires some unsavory characters.

Something in a trucking news letter said major companies are being investigated for singling out felons....
Personally I dont think its fair, they did their time... the sentence did not include a life sentence of no work. Thats BS.
One of the best people I have ever met... killed two people and did his time. He has done more with his life than either of those people could have ever done. I mean, he is the kind of guy that people wish they were. And he was lucky to get a job. Absolutely the most outstanding person I have ever worked with.
In fact... he got my promotion and I have nothing but good feelings for him. He deserved it. That says a lot about him.
Another guy I know is a felon, and is absolutely outstanding. One of the most level headed people I know... and is only of the only middle aged guys I know who have their lives together.TN_Trucker75 Thanks this. -
TransAm and Southern Refrigerated will approve an applicant.
However, from my own personal experience, many of the carriers on this list will not.
Somethings that need to be considered, often overlooked by the lame eye, is the number of convictions, the types or type of convictions, and one more thing...
In some companies, more specifically, Swift, the hiring parameter as it pertains to felony convictions is that the date of being taken into custody be 10 yrs passed or more. While some other company may say that the time frame must be 10 yrs since release/end of supervision, etc. Big difference.
One more thing that should be noted about every company, whether one is an ex convict or not, is hiring area.
It does a person in say, Tampa Florida, no good to learn that Western Express will be forgiving of his/her situation, when they don't recruit south of Jacksonville.
Food for thought.Last edited: Apr 11, 2017
