national safety week?????

So yesterday I pulled into the gate at my local facility and two of the guys from the safety department had cones set up and were stopping all there trucks. Well fisrt I almost blew right through it because I'm an owner operator and I always thing the rules don't apply to me. But after having to show all my papers and permits I was informed that three days next week will be the nationwide DOT safety week.
I need to know what the dates are for this. My truck needs to go in for maintenance and what better time to do ir.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This is the time to hit the scales with that truck that your company won't fix for you,no need to run unsafe equipment out there, remember, you get the blame first, your company is last, and by the time your company and the insurance company is done with you because of an accident or injury due to safety concerns, you will be a retired trucker really fast. Thanks to our good companies that maintain the safest trucks for most of us out there.
