Hi to everyone, I am new to this forum and to trucking in general.
I am considering getting in to the trucking industry. I am retired from the
postal service after 22 yrs and i am only 47 years old, I have talked to Central Refrig ser. to enter into there program in so. cal. on 6-18-07. I have searched the forums on crs and have found not to many bad things on them.Or is there a different Co. to start with

Also wanted to Know should one start out in refrig or dry van.

    Thank You

My brothers started with Central and said their training program was very good. The main complaint they had is the pay is not on true miles, it is zip code to zip code. You might might drive 2000 mi and get paid on 1800.
They spoke very highly of atrainer named Sonny, I also met him and he was a very cool guy.

    Good luck

Yeah, the miles you drive and the miles you get paid for can really be off, I've gotten paid for 540 miles and drove 630 miles for a load. Make sure you really check out the equipment, and what ever you do, don't run illegal for these people.

more than a 10% deviation, I would get them to adjust the miles.

I just quit, after 15 months, it was a good company, I would work for them again, if they had local work in my area.

I worked for central, ok company the school was good, but do not go to tha ca school..go to Salt Lake city or GA the CA yard sucks..SLC is the best one. the company dont care about anything but the load. people dont matter at all to them, but im sure most co,s are like that. watch out on your paychecks messed up on every check i ever received including the school OTR pay. but the price for school is good, if i did it again i would go to school ther pay it off and go to work for another co.

No personal exp with Central but a pretty cool headed buddy worked there. Had some clean equipmnent and a driver/fleet manager he liked. Tried to get me to switch over but my head was elsewhere. The debate of reefer v. dry van should be pretty straight if you are training - go with the reefer for the training. Those reefer boxes haul alot of dry freight and once you learn to fall asleep to the reefer motor whispering in your ear...
Any driver can pull dry box, reefer experience may give you a leg up down the road?!

What do ya mean by "running illegal" Panda? I saw one of your other posts and you don't speak very favorably about Central. Are you disgruntled? I'm starting on the 18th as well and your posts don't give me a good vibe about signing up with Central.
