As far as I am aware, there is no law to that effect.

Very glad you and your wife were able to get home brother. Would be interesting to hear who/what/where/why/when. No pressure though brother.

From what I've seen, they do not route you to your home terminal, they route you to the nearest terminal and dump you out. It's why I always tell company drivers, "Travel light".

"But what about that poor defenseless truck driver left to his own, abandoned at the terminal, trying to figure out how he's going to get all of his gear back home."

I want you to remember that when you hear some driver talking about how he wouldn't want the responsibilities of an owner operator. I'd much rather have those responsibilities than be able to be kicked around like a redhead stepchild that has a humpback, a limp, and a stutter. No bus ride for me! It feels real good when I can tell the desk jockeys that I can quit them Monday morning at 0800 and have 4 job offers at 0803.

When end I was in a company truck, everything I carried would fit in a duffle bag, or rolled up into a sleeping bag. I've worked at a company that used to put drivers out on the sidewalk. I've seen drivers sitting on the sidewalk outside a terminal with all of their gear piled up in the snow. And you thought lot lizards had it rough...

When I drove for CFI yrs ago now its Conway, they left me stranded in Elpaso,TX at their drop yard. Here I got up 6 am and didn't get a load which was dropped at their yard till like 7 that night.CFI wanted me to drive all night to make delivery this next morning.Wasnt going to do that after sitting all day at the Petro. So get your things out of the truck and find your own way home.Rented a car the next morning.
