Driver turnover at most companies that train new drivers is over 100%, some estimates have it as high as 128%. Driving a truck OTR is not fun and exciting like you see in the movies. It can be rewarding $$ after you gain some expierence. But making it through your rookie year is tough. You will get frustrated, lost, lonely, bored, rushed, lied to, disrespected, breakdown, cheated, etc. You will drive at night, in the snow, ice, rain and fog.

I am not trying to kill your dream, I just want you to have a realistic idea about what to expect. The guy that you are being hired to replace, left the company for a reason.

No I knew it was not all what you see in the movies and that the turnover was so high. That I knew. I just did not know that they were required to keep the turnover at a certain percent. I'm only going to swift because every other company school said no and I have no money to pay for it myself.Going to do the 13 months and run.

Yeah what Brickman says. Around 6-7 years ago I went to Swifts orientation then got assigned a truck the following week. The truck was a complete mess. Smelled of urine, seats didn't work, mattress was just plain gross. No cb, no radio, dents and scratches all over, wires hanging all over the place. The engine turned over 2 times then just stopped. Probably dead battery. I went back inside to the office, handed them my permit book, gave them back their kingpin lock and went home. I consider myself lucky after reading other peoples horror stories about Swift

[QUOTE=Brickman;194163]Have you tried Watkins Shepard, or Maverick?

No I have not. DId not try Maverick because I am only 21 and will try Watkins Shepard. Thanks for showing me another company. I just don't think any one else will hire me. I was turned down by CRST, CR England and Schneider. My driver record is such not no one wants to hire me. I no Swift sucks, but I have no family to support and don't care how long I'm on the road for .So I'm not worried about money or miles. As long as I have enough money for food and my cell. I know there safety record sucks ,but it seems like they are the only place willing to hire me.

Dan if you really have your mind set on driving you might be able to get a job with a foodservice company as a driver helper. If you have your permit they may give you a chance.
