Could anyone give me some info / experiences about running Linehaul for SAIA? I know the definition of "Linehaul" seems to vary between companies.

I'm curious on starting pay and typical weekly mileage. Also, do they send you out for a 5 day route typically, or are their runs "out and back" daily?

Thanks for the help and info.

I looked at the top ten trucking companies to work for a few months ago and SAIA was ranked 1st.

They're pretty good, not number 1, but I'm biased.

Good to know! Trying to decide if they would be a good LTL company to go with.

Bump. I would like to know this information also. They are always posting job openings in my area.

Being an LTL line haul driver and talked to former employees from my work and others their pretty good place to work. All LTL's are just about the same with problems. Some companies it's this and others it's that. Pay is the big difference they start in the mid .40's Cpm. Top out in the mid .50cpm. It's basically the same night runs, you won't see a day run unless they have a bid open which is rare, turns(home daily)or layovers, some weekends off. As in profitability they are top 10 in ltl.

I'm also located in the Twin Cities. I noticed the same job postings for SAIA.

A little more info, I got a message from their automated system. They must be hurting for drivers. .49cpm linehual 20+hr local. 3k sign on bonus. Starting wages. That's their pay stated publicly.

    Big Red Pete Thanks this.

I worked for them a couple of years as a "combo" driver. I left in 2008 and was making 20.30 clock and 48 a mile. If you havent done LTL before it will be a whole new experience for you. You will be home daily unless you don't have a bid and run the system in which case you will be out five and home two. Log books run from noon to noon instead of midnight to midnight. They run legal and are safety oriented..you'll be doing the Smith system etc. and ride with a mentor for a week unless it has changed.

    herring22 Thanks this.
