Just curious if what they are claiming is true. Are you making good money there? What kind of trucks are available to lease?

Everything they told me is true, except they tend to lowball your actual income. The percentage is correct but I make a bit more than they said I would. They seem to lean towards KWs and Prostars, although I know some guys have Pete's and Volvos they got through the lease program. The pay is what you make of it, we are paid percentage, we run company loads or loads we find off the boards, the highest paying load I have done was a legal Sammons load, the second highest was a Landstar OD load. The lease program is aimed at getting your truck paid off fast, so income is about what I was making as a company driver for a different carrier, but I have paid my truck down 23k in 7 months after all operating cost.

So I could in theory get a w900 and actually get a decent income...hmmm. how long are you out and are you allowed to take a passenger? My fiance goes with me from time to time.

I don't think you'll see a w900 thru lease, guys have them but I think they brought them with them or bought them from outside the company but I really don't know for sure. I chose a prostar for the lower cost and better fuel mileage, plus I like the sleeper layout better. I have been out as long as 5 seeks and as short as 11 days, all depends on what loads I find and how long I want to be out. My wife has gone with me, I can take her whenever I want but I think there is a limit if your not married to the passenger, but there again I am not sure about that either.

What kind of rates are you seeing right now? I am guessing your pulling a SD? Also what load boards do you have access to besides the Sammons board?

Yes I pull a 53' step. Generally I don't run for less than $2 a mile, I launch Wednesday to CO at $2.66 for a legal load, including DH to pick up. I usually look at Sammons, Internet truckstop, and get loaded.com for my loads.

    seawind and milskired Thank this.
