    Their address is:

    Valley Transportation Service, Inc.
    73137 State Hwy 16
    Grand Meadow, MN 55936

I have not met many drivers and know very little about this carrier. They do the kind of work I like to do. However, they must work on completely different contracts because I never meet any of their drivers during pick up or delivery.

What do you know about them?

I have a friend that is leased to them. They do a lot of farm equipment and most is over sized. Alos they do lot of Broker loads. I think part of the ATS system too. ( Anderson) He does all right financially. They seem to have a problem with office personnel and they keep changing dispatcher. That being said if you are going to be a company driver you could do worse. Leasing on is a different thing all together. If leasing on they have a shop that will work on your truck or allow you to work on it. You get discounted price on parts and if in a bind will charge you weekly for payoff. My friend left for a very short time thinking grass was greener elsewhere. It took one week for him to return to Valley. You do have to run People Net EOBR logging.

I finally got a call back from them. They transport a lot of equipment from auctions and other sales. They work quite a bit with brokers. The biggest negative I learned about is their pay. They do 98% over-dimension loads with no premium pay. They only pay a flat rate of $0.40 per mile loaded and $0.38 unloaded. Virtually every other company pays a $0.05 to $0.15 premium depending on the type of load.

I just don't know how they function as a company. Are they a good company, etc?

I spoke with the recruiter and it looks like I've got the green light despite only having 2 years local experience. Not sure if I'm gonna go with it, not a great way to learn and do all 48 with this type of work. Also if I remember correctly, they don't pay for orientation, so getting there is on me.

They have a new chief dispatcher now.
Advice , be honest and tell them where you really don't like to run but will. decide what you want to run. Flat bed, step deck, RGN.
I think you will do better with step deck. .
They have a lot of new farm equipment ( John Deer) out of IA that goes every where, some to Ca. There are reloads in CA to Tex. Usually. There is a customer in FL that gets about 300 John Deer units a year and a good run. . My friend leased to them is trying to get me to go with Valley. Not a bad company and you can do worse . No mater what you do I wish your the best in what ever you decide.

They have some super nice equipment too. I see them a lot down in ankeny Iowa and over by Waterloo as well. Beautiful rigs and they're always moving. Don't know squat about the company besides that it's a smaller operation.

I used that worthless PeopleNet when I was with another company. It is a bad system. It locates you based on the strongest cell tower signal near you. I was in Terrell, Texas last year brokedown, in a motel while the TA worked on my tractor. My dispatcher wanted to know why I was driving around the area all weekend. Apparently, you can get 3 different locations while parked there!

I finally saw them a few weeks ago when I quit ATS. Nice equipment, but the drivers need to stay gone to have a chance at a decent paycheck, just like at ATS.
