I don't know too much about Navajo, so I can't give you much advice. I can, however, give you a rundown on Conway.
Don't do it.
I know, everybody has their own opinion. There are the "Defenders of the Megas", as I call anyone that says any large trucking company is grrrrreeattt! Or, for that matter, anyone that says anything positive at all about them. Don't let em' fool ya.
Better yet, go to both my thread, "Want to stay broke? Work for Conway Truckload"!, and also go to the "Conway Drivers, What's your 20"? thread. Study the last 20 pages or so to get a feel for what these guys are going through from the actual, current, Conway drivers.
Bottom line... it stinks. $600.00- $750.00 a week. To basically be on duty 24/7.
Why bother? Unless, you just want to get some experience after about a year or two (provided you don't have a wife/family to support; if you're going to be paid peanuts, you may as well stay home and do it) and then move on to something bigger and better, preferably even a union gig if you can find it.
Do your research, then make your own decisions. Think for yourself!
Good luck!Cw5110 Thanks this. -

Navajo- The line of the blue-eyed Indian. It's been around for a long time. I worked for them very long ago and while I can't find anything specifically bad to say about them there really isn't anything good that comes to mind either.
I would assume that Don Digby Jr. is still running the company. 'Donnie' as he was called (but never to his face) had some interesting traits. Basically he loved trucks but hated truck drivers. Again, nothing outright malicious but if you worked at Navajo it was well understood that you could be easily and quickly replaced. I was with them for about 3 years until moving on to greener pastures.
Expect the usual reefer freight and everything that goes along with it- long waits for loading and unloading, general grocery warehouse BS, etc.
Equipment maintenance was about average- as long as you could get it into Denver for repairs. Getting things fixed on the road was problematic, but could be done if absolutely necessary.
As with many companies they liked to run you pretty much anywhere that didn't go through your hometown. Even if you lived in Denver as I did! Average time out was around 3 weeks.
Don't expect to set any land-speed records in their trucks.
Summary: Not the best carrier but not the worst either. Good enough to stay with until something better comes along.
Good luck.
