USA Forward Air - Need Information on FWRD

Hi, I am looking into changing from a company driver to O/O. I would really appreciate hearing from people on there experience with Forward Air.

From what I know, they are 100 percent Owner Operators both Solo and Teams and run freight throughout the night from terminal to terminal primarily. The O/O which I have met were quite satisfied with the company and the compensation. There turn over rate is quite low also for this industry at around 30%.

Thanks,

Schneider Pilot

From what I've heard its a lot of sit and wait and then run like hell to deliver a load.
Solo ops will not be given very long runs due to this immediate nature of their freight.
Solo ops will struggle with making money.
Teams will be given the longer gravy runs.

Again this is what I've heard.

Forward Air

I work in a building complex that has a Forward Air terminal in Eagan, MN. It seems like a lot of o/o are sitting around in the lot waiting for work.

Feedback on Forwardair

Brickman and Big Smitty, appreciate your posts!

They run LTL 53', most runs are at night. Also more senior O/O run dedicated runs between their terminals.

Makes sense this would workout best for a team O/O. Would like to hear from anyone who's worked for them.

forward air

my wife and i have worked for forward air for 8 years. ive been an owner op for 15 years. forward air is the best job ive ever had,and the most money ive ever made.its all drop and hook at our own terminals on our own trailers. so consequently we are treated better at terminals because we all work for the same company. i would not, however, recomend this company to single drivers ,as there are not enough 10 or 11 hour terminals to satisfy the needs of the single drivers we do have. forward air is like all the other companys in that regard, though. as long as the single drivers keep applying, they will keep on hiring. that is the largest portion of our abnormaly low turnover.(single drivers)i just bought my 3rd new truck since starting with these folks in 2000. at the risk of sounding like a recruiter,i can honestly say i,and my wife love our job.i must also add that they are quite diffacult to get hired on with. the hiring parameters are alot more stringent than some companys that hire anyone with a hearbeat and a truck payment.no job hoppers,no speeders, no slackers(they expect teams to run like teams) no excuses. they trust us to use good judgement but do everything possible to be ontime with the loads. to whom much is given ,much is expected. hope i didnt ramble. brad
