Been thinking this for a while. I know everything isn't for everyone but from bad experiences and good ones. I believe I would be a great dispatcher. Does how much verifiable driving experience matter? What are the qualifications? How do I even know if a mega carrier is hiring for one?
Really wanna know the answer to this one!!!

I'm home everyday now I have come off the road running all 48 to hauling container. But I always thought a dispatcher made a pretty darn good check every week.

Most dispatchers know nothing about trk driving. Many are the pretty boy preppy type going to college while dispatching.Hows your typing skills?I have talked to dispatchers and they say their job is routine and not hard.To me it looks hard but I guess once you get the hang of it its a piece of cake like trk driving is to trk drivers.

Don't forget, you need to be able to lie really well, possibly the most important qualification
Truckin2Eat Thanks this. -
To really put this in perspective a few weeks ago one of the planners who does our loads for the day at my terminal told me before I left in the morning that he puts in about 70 hours a week like drivers do and will only make right at 40k for the year. Drivers at our terminal just starting out usually make around 50k there first year after you can make 60k your second year if you really work hard and after you get to max pay you can make over 70k a year.
