Schniders New Pay Scale

Well, it appears that Schnider just bumped up their pay scale effective September 30th. Here is a couple examples I got from their site:

Experianced Solo Drivers - .35 to .435 CPM

Inexperianced Solo Drivers - .30 CPM

Their press release speaks of a "softening of the freight industry in 2007". Not sure how to take that. From the way I read it, it makes me think that freight is slow. If thats the case I am curious if this is a precursor to a sliding pay scale. Knowing very little about this industry and a bit about business, it makes me wonder.

Whats some of you with experiance think?

Alot of people are bumping their pay scales up. And schneider being one of the largest carrier must be seeing alot of their drivers jumping ship.

That pay scale is different depending on where you live, here in southeast it's 29 cpm for inexperienced and 34 cpm for experienced and then up.

Its .41 cpm in the midwest, specifically Around the Chicago/GB Terminal. I was surprised, as almost everybody pays better cpm than Schneider. Shocking, b/c about 6 months ago, they started 28 then went to 31, lol.

Not a bad pay package, if they can provide consistent miles. If I were looking for an OTR company, I would have to consider them.
