Depends on the company. Melton it is over 10 during summer (not during school)
-
Wondering if 2yrs old is to young legally. Because I have seen a few couples with young kids with them.
-
If your company allows it, you could take an infant on the road with you. There are no laws against it, as long as the motor carrier has provided written authorization. Company policies differ, from allowing anyone to only allowing immediate family over a certain age.

I ve seen a driver at the TA in Madison, WI with 3 small children, the oldest one maybe 2 and the other one walking and one in a car seat the other day

Better have the correct number of car seats in that truck. How would you do that, I have no idea. All states are different but I'm sure a two year old has to have a car seat, it goes by height, weight and age.

I don't think there are many companies that will allow you to take infants along.
Or 2 year olds. -
I guess I was just thinking about going back on the road for a few months to make some extra cash. To get my own truck and return back to hauling containers to the port and home daily. But wanted to take my girl and son with me this time because they were the reason I got a home daily job anyway.

There is nothing in the FMCSA regs that would prohibit you from doing that, provided you have the approval of (and written authorization from) the motor carrier who's numbers you are running under. If you have your own numbers, you can write up your own passenger authorization form for whoever you want to take in the truck with you. The only problem I can see running cans is whether or not the container yard will allow them on the property. If they'll have to exit the truck and wait at the gate each and every time you enter the yard, it would probably NOT be a good idea to take a young child with you.
semi retired semi driver Thanks this.
