So Ive narrowed down my options to either Celadon or MCT. I know MCT is strictly Auto transmissions and Celadon is converting over to Auto's. This isnt a problem for me since I have an old Marine Corps injury from shrapnel in my left knee (lets face it, an auto is easier to drive). My only real questions are:
1. What are the average weekly miles like for both companies?
2. Whats the home time rotation like 10/2, 14/2, or more (out versus in)
3. Do either of these companies send you to these tiny yards for drops that a pup truck can barely fit into?
Any other little tidbits anyone can offer would be cool also... I was thinking Southeast preferred for Celadon or regional for MCT!
MCT or Celadon?

Celadon is garbage. Stay far away.

Average length of haul is 420 miles. If you have a preplan before you're empty, you're lucky. You have to stay out a minimum of 2 weeks. You will get home as soon as they have a load that will get you there. If you don't get there on the date you want, too bad. I was on Texas regional before switching to OTR. Regional will starve you to death. OTR is ok if you consider 2500 miles a week good miles. I don't.

You have 4 years experience, you will not be paid a penny more for your 4 years than another guy will be for his 3 years. You will both get $0.34 a mile. They have perdiem ($0.11 a mile) but if you take perdiem they take 1.5 CPM away from you and then lie to you about it and tell you it's for tax purposes. That means if you tell them you want perdiem you will automatically go from 34 cents a mile to 32.5

MCT gives you $59 a day everyday you're on the road no matter what. That would come in very handy when you're broke down and can't go anywhere. Wouldn't get much of a check if you were broke down for a week but it's more of a check than you would get anywhere where you don't make anything if you don't do any driving. I've talked to them. They don't hire out of my area, or I might be with them now.

If you go to celadon and you get an illness that's going to make you unable to drive for a few weeks, you will be terminated if you have been with the company under a year because you have to be with the company for a year before you qualify for medical leave. That's the reason I don't work for them anymore.
