When i first started looking into truck driving(dec,2013) i was looking into Prime, i was going to do the training program and get my license through them.I started doing alot of extensive research and decided i didnt want them to own me for a year. So in feburary i ended up spending the money and getting my cdl through a local school and started putting my app in to alot of different places, local and the big companies. Not a whole lot of hits and prime was ready to send me a bus ticket to get started, so i had it set up and i was ready to go that sunday. The next day i recieved a call from a local company for an interview on that thursday, I went, it went pretty well and explained my situation with prime(if they didnt hire me friday that i would be leaving for prime that weekend) so i got the call friday saying i got the job. i was pretty stocked for the fact that i landed a job close.
Nrf distributors is the name of the company, they deliver flooring throughout newengland.I didnt relize what i had gotten myself into at that time, lol.
So the first 3 months was training,Extremely stressful for a newbie driver might i add. they threw me right into the citys like boston, hartford, providince. My trainer was a good guy he helped me alot with pointers and gave me the push i needed to exacute the deliverys(which i was butting heads at times but thanking every day now). alot of backing off busy streets into mom and pop shops. with people pulling behind you when your trying to back in, cutting you off. very stressful still as at times but you all know that. A normal day with this company is you would do on average 10 stops a day. and sometimes you would have over 20 stops in 1 run which would take 2 days.deffinatly getting a workout cause its all hand unloads, which i enjoy doing its nice to be active instead of being in the driver seat all day. Also the trucks are all fairly new, and they are all day cabs so no sleeping in the truck! Company paid hotels and not dives Either!
Over all i am very happy to have landed a job such as i did with no exp. they dont hire right out of school. the best part is i only work 4-5 days a week and im home with my family every weekend. good company to work for great benefits and awesome bosses! im extremely thankful for this job!

Congratulations on your update! I had to read it twice because it is very rare on these boards to hear somebody report this kind of news on their beginning of their driving career. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and warm up there this winter.
