Mercer and Landstar pull military freight, as do many others. I feel certain that Schneider also pulls military. I believe Tri State still pulls military freight. ATS also does some military loads. Is there a specific type of military freight you are interested in pulling?

I am interested also, do not have a CDL yet but have a secret clearance. I wonder how much driving experience these places need.

I have a secret clearance. I'm interested in pulling AA&E and radioactive materials.

If you want to get into A & E or other types of "sensitive" military freight your top secret clearance will help with the process. But, you will usually need to get some experience behind your belt. I don't know current requirements for this type of freight, But I would expect them to require at least a couple of years or so of recent experience. You don't want an inexperienced driver to be hauling around explosives. Landstar has an A & E division. Some use husband and wife teams for these loads. I am sure these are still team loads. Someone must be with the truck at all times. Some "sensitive" loads don't stop until the deliver their load. Landstar doesn't hire company drivers so if you want to go with them you will need to work for an owner who has trucks leased to Landstar or buy your own truck. I think Landstar requires a year of recent experience to be approved. The A & E requires additional approval.
I would also check with Tri State if you are looking for a company position. Mercer only hires owner operators but you might find a position with an owner. I don't remember if they do A & E. Pulling that type of freight can be a pain so few are qualified or approved to haul it. As you move forward in your new career in trucking, it is important that you keep your MVR and CSA clean. Call some of these companies and ask them about their requirements. Their recruiters may have information about other carriers that haul A & E.dennisroc Thanks this. -
I will mention another company that might be helpful for you, Menlo Logistics. They had grandiose plans of taking over all military shipments. I am not sure where they stand at the moment. They are part of Conway so they should be easy to find.

R and R out of Joplin (assuming they're still feet down) hauls A+E. So does Boyle, I believe out of Al.
