The best trucking companies are usually private carriers, trucking companies that are owned by factories that make and haul their products of carrier like Walmart that haul their own goods, you can find a list of these companies on ATA's (American Trucking Association) website,
Just because you do not see them advertising for drivers does not mean they are not hiring, Companies that are constantly recruiting drivers are the one with large driver turn over rates,
Private carrier drivers usually get home on a regular basis,,pay well, have good equipment and know that they depend on good drivers to support there factories or distribution services.
An example and don't laugh is JB Hunts dedicated services,,many companies contract with JB Hunt and other large carriers to provide their trucking work,, A local JB trucker in my town delivers for Home Depot,,Home every night, local work and he earns over $1,000/wk..JB today has openings for local oversize drivers,,starting pay is over $80K/yr with some drivers making over $100K/yr. Sure would be nice to work 5 days a week, home every night and make good wages with benefits,
