Fastenal - Any Drivers on the boards?

Discussion in 'Motor Carrier Questions - The Inside Scoop' started by RichardCranium86, Nov 23, 2014.

  1. I was really interested in Fastenal when I found they do hire new grads. Are there anyone on the boards that are driving for them? I would love a drivers perspective. I would be even more interested if anyone that drove out of the Atlanta DC, but driver at all would be awesome. Thanks for your words in advance. I have a few questions if there is anyone around.

I'm starting with them in a couple weeks. Just graduated TDS in December and it seems like the best pay, benefits, and hometime you could ask for straight out of school. Overnight routes will take some getting used to. If you're still invested in info on them PM me and once I get in and get a feel for things I'll let you know.

Been with them 2 and a half years, I like it. I drive from Jessup PA to Indy IN, stay the night and back the next day. Other than looking at the same roads every day not a bad gig.

I applied to them 3 yrs ago but did not make it through their silly "personality to drive a truck" online test. Went on to good things but wth is up with that test they do? I don't get it.

  6. two years and land an I-hub route? Nice. We have a few guys 10+ years running I Hub. So until they retire they are probably not gonna give that up. I have been here now since December last year. I lucked into a great route so I can't complain to much. As for that test I heard they don't do it anymore. There for a while a lot of big companies were using a similar system.

Been on I hub since my second month with them and I have high seniority on it, only one guy has me beat, LOL. I drive a lot of miles and in the winter the run is a beast through the mountains of PA. One thing I can honestly say is my bosses are great. Worked at a lot of places in my life and Fastenal is hands down has the best people. Work sucks anywhere but until I hit the lotto guess im staying where im at. PS heard they did away with that goofy test also.

  9. No real complaints. Home time and pay are nice. it's work but put in some time (make it to a bid period & get your route) and it gets pretty good. Nate that posted up further is now our night time traffic manager (Dispatch/Manager) if you're used to bumping docks this will wake you up unloading freight at 10-12 stops a run takes getting used to but having come right out of school I dont know anything else. also the chance of coming in and landing a good route and being happy. Looking back this is more like my path. Payed on time everytime, raise opportunity every 6 months. any other questions let me know.

I used to run retail hitting stores in strip malls hand unloading. Just saw a ad for Atlanta just wondering about the pay there and health insurance. Thanks for the reply.
