Any current Truck drivers working at ARG Trucking Corp in New York? How would you rate your experiences, treatment, pay and benefits? How many hours do you work weekly? Day/Night Shift? Overtime available?

They transport Petroleum, primarily at night it and seem to a good company based on my conversations with one of their recruiters. ARG has "Sleeper" cab positions that are out five days home every weekend (not sure if these are paid CPM or Hourly and what their pay rate is). They also have "Home Daily" day cab positions that are home every night, rotating two days off, but also work weekends and holidays. The "Home Daily" positions pay $15/hr for about eight weeks of training, then bumps to around $18/hr after training, then bumps to $21/hr after six months, and then around $25/hr after two years. Overtime only after 50 hours worked and includes full benefits and profit sharing.

    Thoughts? Please let me know!

You wanted to learn bulk work, there's your chance. Doing multiple loads a day is great experience.

Full disclosure .. I don't know about the pay , but the few arg drivers I've run into didn't impress me. Doing short haul tanks you can't be a steering wheel holder. You're going to work and be in the weather .... And weekends/holidays are a major part of the gasoline program.

I had a truck leased on with them years ago but much has changed since then, I don't think they have any owner operators any more. A friend of mine still works for them, he is actually the number one driver in the whole company. I talk to him from time to time about things. They have there pros and cons but without going off on a tangent, I would say jump on the opportunity if they offer it. They will teach you what you need to know as a brand new driver and you will gain petroleum and asphalt hauling experience. They run new equipment now and seems to be well maintained. Winter is about over so you will get some good seat time in before you have to worry about it again. Stick it out for a year and get some experience and than maybe look into something better if you desire.

If they offer me a position I will take it for sure. It's a good opportunity and pay seems decent and includes benefits.

There were a couple of guys that work there on the site. Hopefully they'll chime in.

Also I'd choose my words very carefully in case someone shows the office your thread....

    I hope so too.

Didn't think about that... was just looking for some thoughts from other people working their. Do you think I made negative comments about the company?
