Anyone have any advice on a great company that you can personally recommend that is based out of or will allow me to be based out of the Norfolk/Richmond area?

I currently drive for one of the mega's and have just about 2.5 years experience. Completely clean record, safe, no tickets, etc.

I'm thinking about getting out of OTR and switching to something either more regional, local or whatever gets me home more often. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

yeah Abilene is a good one out of that area don't know much about them other than not much bad said about them in their threads on here

epes is also another good one running out of chester I did 3 years with them. will get you home every weekend and better than average money but you'll run a lot of northeast running out of that yard. they do pay a bonus ,10 to run north of DC though. good company I could have stayed there but for a much better opportunity falling into my lap out of nowhere lol

Averitt is another good one, but if your looking to get out of OTR, they may not have any openings for local stuff, unless a dedicated route comes up, or you might be interested in shuttle work.

Try Estes, they are actually based out of that area up there. It's LTL but they probably have different gigs going on. Worth checking into at least. My 2 cents anyhow.

I drive for houff transfer they have yards in Richmond and Suffolk. Only have regional work so you would be home every weekend or nightly if one of the spots was open.
