I'm looking for some info on SPD truck company. I want to know what is the starting pay, how much for family benefits, how many loads where tarps have to be thrown over. I started my driving career as a flatbed driver throwing tarps but not in any mood to have climb on top of loads pulling tarps. I've seen a few of their trucks and the trailers have the rollback tarps. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Not you in general, just some times people post in the wrong sections and then get mad when nobody replies..We all are new in things every day

Hauled several loads for SPD,,ran with a couple of their drivers too,,don't know what they pay but they have good equipment and are a reputable company,
saddlesore Thanks this. -
Well I am a driver for SPD. Your questions about starting pay, cost of benefits etc can be answered with a quick phone call to Sean or John in safety.
Now if your not "in the mood" for tarping then SPD probably isn't the company for you. We are a flatbed/open deck carrier and as such we tarp. Yes we have Conestoga's but unless your looking at a dedicated position or are a team then there's no guarantee that you'll pull one.
Not to be an *** but nothing I hate more that people that come to work here knowing we are a flatbed company then say they don't/can't tarp. Yes there are a lot of non-tarp loads carried on flatbeds every day but that's not the case for SPD. 95% of everything we haul is aerospace/aircraft/DOD loads and as such they absolutely have to be tarped/covered.
There are other SPD drivers on this forum so a little looking around in the flatbed section and you will find them.
There is no such thing as a perfect company but for most of us at SPD that accept that we have to tarp loads and the other downsides that come with flatbed work couldn't ask for a better company to work for. However like I said earlier, if your not "in the mood" for tarping then I seriously doubt you'll be happy here.Joetro, saddlesore, Jumbo and 2 others Thank this. -
Pulling a flat bed means you will tarp. Accept that fact. If you dont like it you can go pull a van and haul baby food and drug store cotton..
