well i stay out 2 months at a time, but when i do want to go home its never a problem and i always get there on time. They always have freight going to florida, mostly air conditioners going to miami from laredo, tx, its a nice easy run to get me home. thats usually how they do it for me. :biggrin_25525:

Do they run any kind of a APU for idling or do they use IdleAire? Do you get to pull very many O/D loads? Am seriously thinking about going to Melton. Would probably be run out of the dallas yard as I am in Houston.:biggrin_25519:

Yes; they have APU's on about half the trucks, and they do not pay or Idleaire. As for OD loads not to many, I have been hee over four years and have not pulled one. If you feel the need for OD stuff you might look elsewhere. IMHO

Last message was date on 12/30/2008. Just wondering if there was anyone that could give info on this company.

    Anything on

    lease purchase?
    home time?
    pet policy?
    pay/loads up or down?

Or anything else that would be helpful?

They don't have a lease anymore, they have some guys who have completed the old lease program and are now o/o's leased to Melton; their truck numbers start with 9. Home time is one day off for every 7 worked; about the industry standard I think for OTR. The only day off they guarantee is Christmas Day. They do allow pets, but if I remember correctly there is a deposit for pets, I think it can be taken out of your settlement a week at a time, though. Pay tops out at .41 cpm. Bill had about 16 months experience when he started with Melton and he got .36 cpm. Tarp pay is 30 bucks. He averaged around 1800 miles a week with them but it was October through December so might just have been a bad time of year. They very seldom preplan. They do send a "preplan", but it's not until you are empty and have sent in your empty macro, then they start looking. We weren't there that long, but I am pretty confident in my answers to your questions.
