This "Load Board" link is called Mint is it really what your O/O or LP look at to choose their loads?
I see there are many different dispatch names, those are brokers right? which means they take a cut off the top, then you take a cut right?
Curious as to why most of them do not show a $ rate?
How does a driver choose a load with specific rate if it is not readily available?
Do you have to contact the contact person to find out about rate and if it is tarp load or not?
and how much tarping pays?
why isn't any of this info in the details?
thanks

If your looking at the Sammons load board on there website, those are the Sammons Agents I believe. I don't see them posting any rates unless you call or are a Sammons driver and can see the more extensive board that they have access to.
nofilter Thanks this. -
Thank you milskired,
The load board I am looking at is the one "SammonsRecruiter" had linked on his message on 12-23-2011.
I just looked at it and the "Load Board" is not a link anymore...huh..?
If that is what the driver is looking at, it can mean an awful alot of work to find the one you want per prices...milskired Thanks this. -
Sammons public load board is at http://www.sammonstrucking.com/load_avail.aspx. That is for users not leased to Sammons, they have an internal load board for drivers leased on to them. Most Companies that have a pubic load board are not showing you the same loads as drivers leased on to then see. They are a second load board for freight that did not move on their internal load board.
I dont know of any public load boards that show prices regularly. You need to call and negotiate the rate on almost all loads. Once in a while you will see the rare load that shows a rate on a load board but it is not common.nofilter Thanks this. -
The internal loadboard that we see has the miles, rates, p/u and drop cities, date available, dimensions and weight, tarp info. etc. It will even tell me deadhead to pick up within reason.

I will simply tell you and anyone else this... my husband has been with Sammon's for a little over five months. In that time he has paid close to 50% of his truck off. the deal is this: Sammon's will NOT hold your hand and coddle you. This company is for people that want to work and want to grow THEIR business. He and I look for loads and we keep booked at least a load in advance. he also has people that call him for loads both Sammon's agents and brokers. It is what you make it. If you want a company where they offer you two or three loads and then get crabby because you won't take them...or a company that will tell you where you are going and when... then this is not for you. We choose the loads we want and we know where we want to go and when. we get home when we want because we book loads going thru there if we want or need to be home for something. We were just discussing the other day that we cannot imagine going back to work for a company that will choose our loads for us. We LOVE the freedom that Sammons offers us and the face that most likely by the end of the year or shortly after he will own his truck. You can succeed at Sammons if you are willing to put the effort in and work.
Rigbuilder, Battle Born, milskired and 3 others Thank this. -
I've been told that this lease program is very good, and very unique. It looks good, but will it work is the better question. Being national guard, I'd have to be home at least once a month, and next question being, is Minnesota an alright freight zone for them? Even if it's for a through load.
