in the oilfield the requirements are usually to have a pulse and be an insomniac.... pulse is sometimes optional

Don't think they care . As long as it is half azzed reliable and you get stuff delivered. I have seen a couple of clunkers with their stickers. Know another guy out of Weatherford that has real old FLD and pulls for them.

it gets hard after awhile. Not only that but it gets OLD fast. I can no longer handle the constant changing of hours you get being on call all the time. that's my beef with oilfield.

The majority of the work is along the Gulf Coast so that would mainly be
regional. ALthough he can just do local work if he would like and yes they
do lease daycabs. They do long haul also but like I said it's mainly down
here where the oilfields are.

There is money to be made as long as there is work to do. No work No money.

Before you get him to excited about the idea I would check with them to see
if they are even taking new leases.

I have picked up some loads at Towne Air Freight in Indianapolis,In. Loads were always ready. No problems. If I were looking for work I would probably talk to them. Do not know how they are in Baltimore but,Indy is a good place.

In North Texas where I work, it's mostly companies that are doing the frac sand and water hauling.

MM lives in SE Texas, I don't know how it's done there, although I don't figure much different.

O/O do have a place in sand hauling over here, but a LOT are starving right now due to companies like the one I work for doing it cheaper......

Sound familiar????????? I'm looking at buying my own truck and trailer in a big way and I won't consider oilfield work as an O/O. 2 years ago, sure...but not now.

Water hauling is dwindling here too...due to more and more pipeline being laid to carry the water off ther wells instead of trucks doing it.

BTW,,,,I said my pulse was questionable due to the 20 hour day I just worked......and no BS, I'm just getting too old for that BS.

Remember it's the oilfield and 20 hour days are quite common 12 and 14 are more common.......regular HOS doesn't apply here. Time sitting still at the location don't count on hours worked(on 70) although you're still getting paid.
