First of all, I am not working for Keim nor have I worked for Keim in the past. I just finished driving school at a local college where Keim came and talked to our class. The reason I am posting this is because I haven't seen anything about Keim on this site.

I was a few days from going with Keim when I was called by Gordon and offered a job. It turns out that I was not told the truth the Gordon recruiter. I have a small dog, they said I could take the dog with me even thought their web site said no pets. When I called back and talked to another recruiter to verify this, I was told that they don't allow pets in their trucks unless you lease or are an O/O. While I was waiting to hear from Gordon, I let Keim go, shame on me.

If you are looking for a small flatbed, family owned company to work for, I have nothing but good things to say about keim and their recruiting. I have also heard nothing but good things from other drivers. I believe they have a small turnover rate. They have great equipment, Kenworths, and their trailers seem new.

Main terminal is in Sabetha, Ks and they have a terminal in Fort Dodge, Iowa. I have been to the terminal in Fort Dodge. It is small but very well maintained. They are primarily midwest but do all 48. I understand if you are regional, you are home almost every weekend unless you want to stay out. Your truck will be looked at by a mechanic once a week.

They hire from our college and as far as I know, most have stayed with them. Their orientation is one day in Sabetha and then 20 days and 6K miles with a trainer. You have to do both, 20 days and 6K not either or. They have about 150 trucks and they know all their drivers by name. They do have a web site but there isn't much information on it.

I just thought that if anyone was looking for information about Keim this might help. By the way they start out at .34 a mile and they do allow pets.

Because I dumped on the Keim recruiter for Gordon, I am too embarrassed to call them back so I'm still looking for work.

Hope this helps some of you if you are looking for info on Keim.

Call them back. The worst they can do is say no, right? What have you got to lose?

Hey Bagger8552, I also am considering Keim TS as my application process for
Hunt Transportation is being handled by Crete Carrier and has been a disaster.
I'm one day from making a call to Keim. They visited our school during a job
fair, then later about 7 of us went down to visit with them, check out the
facility, and had dinner. You're right, nice folks, new equipment and interested in safe drivers. They are my 2nd choice behind Hunt. Tomorrow
will be 1 month since I've graduated and over a month since I submitted an
application to Hunt/Crete Carrier. Need Work! Can't....wait..any.more......
Make the call to Paul or Stewart and simply explain that you made an honest mistake and would like to continue the application process. It's part
of the business, I'm sure your not the 1st or the last to change your mind.
And from the time spent with them, I don't feel they would hold anything against you. But that's just my opinion based on my experience. Let me know how it goes, we may end up there together!

I'm going to the local college in Ft Dodge...about a week away from my CDL test. Looking for a local family-owned company that can get me quite a bit of home time (fiance' is 38 weeks pregnant with baby any day now).

KeimTS is right down the street from the trucking school I'm going to. What is the good and bad with this company? I need a driving job ASAP, and am shopping around for the best options. Also been looking at Con-Way LTL but they haven't responded to any of my contact efforts, unfortunately. Optimal job would be home nightly, but I would accept weekends at home.

Also, I'm in the Iowa Air National Guard...how are they with drill time? Do they excuse you for it, or do they make it count against your weekend off or vacation time?

    Thanks!!

This thread is old, you may not get any replies. Just trying to help. You could try calling them and asking your questions.

You would be better off starting a new thread on Keim, instead of replying to this old one.
