| ?'s about Sharkey Are they a forced dispatch company? Are drivers "required" to take loads into NYC or LI? Any problems with taking the tractor home during "time-off"? |

| I work for Sharkey. Go to Sharkey Transportation online. Their offers are in writing. Guaranteed 1000.00wk drivers are forced dispatch. The other pay offers are "supposedly" not but you might run into the load planners or Russell Wilson's wrath if you try to pass. They say you don't have to buggar your logs and they will keep their end of the deal as advertised. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. If you don't mind running illegal..stay on guaranteed. If you go on miles you won't make as much. Guaranteed is a steady check and if you have been driving very long you know that you can't make any money in this industry if you are a practicing Christian. |

| Where are their major freight lanes? Do they do mostly NY and LI or do they run west too? There are a couple Sharkey drivers that live by me and their trucks are in the yard where we keep them more than mine.

| Freight Lanes NO NYC. I went to Buffalo once since starting to work for them. I've heard they deliver as far as California but El Paso and Denver are the farthest west I've been. Georgia is the farthest SE I've been. You only work 5 1/2 days a week and you're home 36 hrs every week. |

| How many miles are they running a week? Right now, I'm lucky if I get over 2200. They sound like a pretty decent outfit. When I hit 12 mo, I will give them a call

| guaranteed drivers Miles they expect from guaranteed is 2700..but if dispatch doesn't give you 2700 that's their butts. They usually give you garbage runs the first couple of days each week because everybody on miles and percent refuse to take them. Then they tight stack you trying to save their butts. It gets pretty frustrating sometimes. Make sure you write it on satellite if 'stack can't be done legally'. They will restack you unless they waited til 1650 to dispatch stack and then they run for the door before you can reply. "DO NOT COME OFF GUARANTEED"! Miles will drop by at least 1/3. Guaranteed gets paid extra for miles over 2700 but don't get excited because it doesn't happen often and they only do it to average out 2700 a week by their 4 week split. |

| ?'s Do they treat people ok there? I am looking at working for them, I live in northern indiana. I only have 7 mo otr though with no school. will they still take me? |

| You definitely make money on GUARANTEED pay. Sharkey's pretty much like the other companies with a couple of exceptions, they have freight up the butt and you make steady money..if you choose the $1000.00 a week Guaranteed pay scale. You rarely make better than that and they base your 2700 miles a week on a 4 wk average. That means you may get 2100 miles one week and by the end of the 4 wk cycle dispatch has to bring the miles up to cover their butts. You can count on $1000.00 a week before taxes. They pay your family health insurance and there is no out of pocket for lumpers, tolls or scales. They do not give "Advances" but do advance you money to cover the scales and tolls. They pay for e-pass and I-Pass. Check out all pay plans with your recruiter. There are several available besides Guaranteed. Don't expect to make a $1000.00 a week on the other plans but you will make some money, about 2/3 what you would make on Guaranteed. If you choose their percentage plan it does NOT pay empty miles. The others do. Guaranteed is forced dispatch but you get $1000. a week. The other plans are NOT forced dispatch but you will average about 1200.00 a month less..pretax. I'm not sure but I think you can get in with 6 months OTR. |

| THANKS thanks for the help. How do you like driving those macks? Are the trucks kept up fairly well? How sitcky are they on there hiring? I have a couple tickets but they'll be 3yr old # the end of april. I was driving for an o/o and fuel got too high and he shut his doors. Now I am writing service at an auto repair shop to get by for now. How bad are they on calling your current employer? I don't need to get fired right now I got kids to feed. |
