Am wondering if anyone out there has any information on what this company is like, and what the pay is. I do realise that the work isn't OTR, nor does it require a CDL A license, but it's still trucking, albeit of a different kind. I've heard that they are union, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm keen to know of the various types of trucking jobs that they have, apart from residential waste, which isn't something that interests me in the least. Thanks in advance.

You will need atleast your class b cdl.And they are not union. And they will be hard to get into unless you have some kind of driving expirience. They start off residential drivers at $14 an hour up here.I know that position dosnt interest you,but you would have a better chance of getting in there then with the roll offs.People bid on roll offs positions more then the roll off guys bid on residential positions. When I was interveiwed by them,I think they said I would close in on $20 in about 5 years doin residential..They also have some tractor trailer positions up here as well.I forget what the roll off guys start at.I do know that they lose very few people per year.I know up here they start at 3:30 am so they can be on the road by 4.So it would help if you lived close by.If you get your class b and some expirience,I would give them a shot.

it's a good gig if you get on with them. if you can handle the smell then you'll make some good money doing it. and like said before, turnover rate is really low. plus your home everyday.

I tried to get on with them. The gentleman doin the interveiw said I would have made a good part of the team. Then he interveiwed some one a day after me who had more driving expirience then me and hired him.He called and told me his boss made the decission to hire the other guy.Understandable and no hard feelings. He told me to get out on the road and get expirience and apply ever six months. So thats what I am gonna do lol.Eveyone at the facility had brand new cars and seemed pretty happy over all.Up here, not to many people apply with them. They think its a crap job. When I was askin people about them, they said they had to much dignity to be a garbage man. They were also broke.Sorry,I need to eat and pay bills, and unlike frieght, garbage is a constant lol.Anyone who knows anything about these guys will tell you its a good job and in my area, bein a garbage man with these guys will ensure you will have as nice a house and car as 90% of my town.

thats true , there is no slow down in garbage. you always have a job. i would work for them but i don't have a waste management near me. smaller companies do it here and the pay is crap.

Most WM barns are union. They're all union around here. If you can put up with the smell and the physical work, go for it. I know a guy that makes $80k/year doing flip top dumpsters.

that's what i was thinking. $80 grand seems a little high for this position. if it's true, i am willing to move and drive a trash truck.

Thats almost 2 grand a week.I dont know if i could see anyone there makin that if they were still in a truck.Even if they had 20 years with them. They would only need to hire once every 10 years or so?
