Help 2 needed: ultimate guide for the newb

I am interested in getting into trucking. The numerous horror stories I've read and all the different job types, training and leasing options, not to mention the things I haven't even heard about yet, are looking pretty steep. I am an absolute rookie and know little more than the job involves driving from point A to point B. What companies should I be interested in, time on the road isn't much of a concern but I will need to be fully trained. I live in Wisconsin but Austin TX and Des Moines IA area jobs would be acceptable. If there is any advice please tell me. Oh yeah, should I lease, become a company drive or own and operate? Please address any questions I should have asked. Thank you for all of the help.

I am sure you will find lots of useful info on this forum -- just search it! You will find the good, the bad, and the ugly. Starting out--you need to try company driving just to see if its for you before jumping into a lease. Good luck to you and hope you find some useful information.
