Burky, you stated that drivers earn 24% of the haul. Is this same for new drivers as well as veterans?

You say you get 24% of the load, which does not seem to be very much, even though the percentage of the load is important, the important question is what is the rate of the load you are hauling?
The company I haul for pays 28% of the load, but again the important element is the rate they are paying for that load, combined with the distance, mine is anywhere from $10.00-$15.00 per ton depending on what you are hauling.
    Whats yours?

cant tell you about bulkmatic but I worked for carry transit a division of superior. I just ran local out of the SF bay area. My thoughts on thiskind of work: BORING. But then again, im not the type to stand around while unloading. Good luck to you.

There's a moderator on this forum who works for Bulkamatic and makes a great living. I'll let him chime in more about them.

As to the job itself, I worked for a company that was a dedicated carrier for GE Plastics (now Sabic Plastics). I delivered plastic pellets to various injection molding manufacturers. I liked the job and would still be there had my step dad not got the idea to buy the truck I'm driving now.

Another company worth mentioning is A&R Transport. They have a terminal in Charlotte, NC.

Bulkers are good if you do only plastics.
But as driving chaulk, anarthosite mold sand etc extremely fine stuff you´ll hate it...somebody´s gotta wash the tanks too plus while loading unloading it will be static bystanding..ain´t gonna do much good for your back.
Just yesterday I talked to a former O/O that was a bulker,,, now he´s happy with his reefer and gets better pay...at least over here.
And I´m a former bulker too...and intend to keep it that way.
    Hope this tells you something.

    jvar4001 Thanks this.

I talked to an A&R driver not too long ago. He lived in Columbus, OH and was home every day. His run was back and forth between Columbus and Evansville, IN.

I Been at A&R since the first of the year and it's been something of an adjustment as far as learning it. I can say the company is first rate in most every aspect of how they treat the drivers. I work out of Louisville KY and hometime is not an issue at all! I'm home every weekend usually 2 or 3 nights through the week. I'm still pretty new at the pneumatic game but I can bring home 750+ a week and the majority of the drivers are over $1000.
The man that owns the company(and still makes day to day decisions) started as a driver as well as almost all of the terminal managers. I've worked at some of the biggest fleets(Schneider,Werner) small 25 truck fleets, and was a union carhauler for 9 years and this is the first place I can see myself retireing from. It's not all gravy but by far this is one of the best companies I've been involved with.

Sounds good---I just shot em a email about home time...my biggest concern along with pay.I have done real well in the LTL business but want a change and have the same income potential along with the hometime. What is their insurance running a week and how is the vacation paid---on a 52 week average or straight time? I hear you guys can make the money over there--I wish I had enough posts to shoot ya a PM but I gotta get 50 first.
