Crete - Pick A Fleet

I see that Crete has an exception rule for taking student drivers. ~puts them on the master list~

They also have several different options dubbed Pick A Fleet. Do you really get to pick?

For me, they have a Mid West Regional, a Dedicated #1, and Dedicated #2 which may have me running thru the house here in the midwest alot. Very interesting! These dedicated say they run mainly between plants..... what plants would that be?

I am wondering do new guys get these choices, or do they send ya national at first or for a certain amount of time?

ummm?

You know i also seen the same thing. I was looking at the mid-south regional; a couple of months ago a lady recruiter told me to get 6months with schneider and i could come on in the "mid south regional fleet" after been off the road for 5months they now say i have to run the national fleet after my trainer time. So i guess its up in the air....

Well from what I understand, dedicated accounts are usually the more saught after jobs in trucking companies because of the runs: You know the freight, know where youwill be doing, know your home time...etc.

I don't know how other companies run them, but usually they want you to have some experience before you go on the dedicated runs. I got lucky and Schneider picked me up and trained me for a spot that was open right here in my town (which also happens to be in the middle of nowhere). They had to pull a OTR driver off the road to fill in on the route until I was finished with training.

Plants...well that also depends on the companies. Usually its...ok well for example...Schneider has an accoutn for a dollar store company. They take freight from a dock / shipping point, and deliver it to the various dollar stores in that area/ region. Other companies might just take freight from Point A to Point B. For my job...my freight is brought to me via a team and then I continue on westward. The freight that gets to the dock is actually brought by Swift from the east coast.

As far as the fleet...I don't really think its a fleet per se, but more of a option of where you want to run in the country.
For example, Schneider has the various TYPES of driving:
Home Run program (more home time)
Bulk
Regional
Dedicated
Team
Intermodal
OTR
Candadian

Along with that, there are 4 regions: Midwest, West, South, NE.

One of my class mates went with their Kellogs dedicated fleet. He was right out of school. I was told at orientation that youd probally have to go National for a bit, then make the switch over to regional or dedicated. I dont know how he got a dedicated position right off the bat.
