Like I said.............

Date: 08:33:05 AM, EDT, 05/19/08
Dear Valued Jevic Customer: I regret to inform you that Jevic Transportation Inc. will be discontinuing operations. The current high fuel costs, economic downturn, increasing insurance costs, and tightening credit markets have made this decision necessary. Jevic will stop providing pickup service effective Monday 5/19/08. However, we will continue operating to deliver all freight within our system prior to closing.
Operations and Customer Service:
Jevic will not be accepting pickup requests after Friday 5/16/08 and the web and EDI pickup functions will be disabled.
We will continue to provide Customer Service through the wind down period. We ask that you please utilize the automated voice response system as much as possible as the number of calls is expected to be high and there will be longer hold times.
The Jevic website will remain active and will be updated during the period as well and that should be your primary point of contact for tracing and needed documentation.
We greatly appreciate the loyalty of our many Jevic customers. It has been our pleasure to provide solutions to your transportation needs over these many years. We are committed to providing the prompt delivery of your shipments in our system and professional customer service for all your needs during this process. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
David H. Gorman

What a shame.

Jevic's closing HAS been confirmed by CyberGal as she just got off the phone with them. That is truly a shame as they were an EXCELLENT company! I mean I would have worked there and there are VERY few places I would work today! Sad. They treated their drivers great...I do not ever remember hearing a driver complain of them. Sigh.

Jevic Transportation closes, citing fuel costs
5/19/08
-
yellow pawned them off prior to the formation of YRC -
not really a factor since their market share has remained constant
the big factor was operating on a tight budget that was broken by fuel and insurance.
it is one thing to run a company lean and mean - but when times get wierd (like they are now) - one economic glitch can put you under.
I remember when my bond/insurance went up 44% in one sweep of great americans pen (my old carrier insurance). - instantly my profit margain went down enough to have me scrambling....
just imagine what happens when you operate tight on a BIG scale like jevic -
just hoped on the bike and rode over past the jevic terminal -
there is a guard (cincsec) sitting in a car at the gate...
probably watching the flow of equipment. -
Jevic Transportation Folds, Citing High Fuel Costs
Carrier Also Cites Sluggish Economy

Truckload and less-than-truckload carrier Jevic Transportation said Monday it is discontinuing operations, due to soaring fuel costs and a weak economy.
"The current high fuel costs, economic downturn, increasing insurance costs, and tightening credit markets have made this decision necessary," Chief Executive Officer David Gorman wrote in a note to customers on the company's Web site.
Jevic will stop providing pickup service effective Monday, but will continue delivering all freight within its system prior to closing, Gorman wrote.
Jevic, a former unit of SCS Transportation (now Saia Inc.), was sold to private-equity firm Sun Capital Partners in 2006 for $40 million.
Jevic was ranked No. 71 in last year's Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
