Yes, had to have CDL A also but didn't really need it for what was moved in my two days. Quite expensive lesson to learn. 500 miles from home one way and $140 in gas to get to Denver and back. Luckily I had family to stay with in Denver so no cost for me there. I'll ask the right questions next time. :biggrin_25510:

i started for apollo and they told me and it states in the contract that they are suppose to pay you and fuel cost and ur way to the trucks but they don't they pay u so much and take the fuel and the cash advance to pay ur transportation to the truck out the money they pay u so if ur thinking about working for them then don't. because all they going to do is **** u out ur money they owe me over 1,300 dollars and my freind worked for them for over 2 months and never made any money ether and come to find out they owe him over 9,000 dollars. i would suggest if anyone is thinking the offer a great deal read the fine print in the contract paragraph 7.:biggrin_2553::biggrin_25513::biggrin_2556:

Truck stop philosophers are a dime a dozen.
I hear enough of them on the radio.
Just give us the facts about this outfit...

Here in PA ( Macungie ) ..home of the only Mack assembly plant in the US
I deliver new Macks to dealers through Apollo....
They give a B/L and a loaded Comdata card to get fuel and tolls...and then you drive the "brand new Mack to the dealer or body company or end user ( within 500 miles ) ....on local runs or sometimes multi-drops in the same area...they send a chase car (driver of chase is paid like the truck delivery) ...
    Tough job really !!!!!.....
If they have a single going to a remote city..you use your cash advance for a cab to the local airport..and they have a National rental waiting for you....( no cost to you)

Understand you are paid miles ( price varies ) one way only..unless their is a return vehicle coming back....they both ways are paid...:biggrin_2558:
Now I ask you...how is that a rip off..they settle each B/L when you turn in expenses for the fuel tolls and cab.....an load your COMDATA pay card every Friday.....

If you work..you can make 500-600 per week....not brain surgeon pay....but guess what you don't the schooling for this job

AMEN!!! I too worked for Apollo in Denver and everything you described is EXACTLY the way Apollo conducted business there!! I am one of the 200 drivers who left that tangled mess hehind them!! The ONLY time I made any real money was when I was offered 1-way OTR runs. Everything was paid including transportation back to Denver, however, these long distance runs were under forced dispatch just like all the local runs. And--- the pay out received was only 25% of what the total revenue paid out to move the trucks!! I made a bobtail run to Minneapolis, and got paid around $400 to transfer the truck. However, the total pay out for that vehicle was around $1500!! Apollo netted the other 75% of the pay!!
I recently ran into another previous Apollo Driver who told me that Apollo recently lost the Denver Penske contract, in addition to the Chicago one!! So I agree, *** STAY AWAY FROM APOLLO!!! ***

I delivered 3 brand new pre-fab Peterbilt trucks from the Denver Peterbilt DC to an oil refinery in Farmington, NM. Paid miles via PC Miler one way, and rode deadhead all the way back to Denver in a chase car.
As I mentioned to another driver here, yes you can make money if these were ALL of the runs driven with Apollo. However, we LOST money IN Denver making all of the local runs for Penske. Yes, it was very true, Apollo would dispatch drivers to a city 60 miles away to move vehicles 1-5 miles, and demand them back to Denver metro. Winter driving was the worst! Sometimes it would take 2-3 hours in snowfall rush hour traffic and get paid mileage for the same run that would take 45 mins in good weather.
After working for Apollo for 9 months, I got to run only 1 out of town trip per month. 90% of my time was in Denver moving Penske local.
According to the local buzz in Denver, Apollo is no longer hiking for Penske so now, Penske will get their trucks moved in a timely manner with the hikers making hourly pay, and Apollo won't be around to no longer piss on local drivers for an average of $4-$5 per hour.

the trucking industry all together is shady, just like freight companies, or the moving industry, (we) as individuals must research them to find what suits us, just like the clothing we choose to put on.
