Say what you will about Hoosier Tradewinds, but the trucking company didn’t leave home without its plastic.
The Indiana trucking firm recently filed for bankruptcy, leaving many drivers unpaid for loads billed.
According to court documents, Hoosier Tradewinds of Arcadia, IN, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 10 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Indiana.
Court documents filed by Hoosier Tradewinds show the company’s largest debts include $293,819 to American Express for credit card purchases; $283,095 to Fleet-Tech Transportation in trade debt; and $102,169 to Stoops Freightliner in trade debt. Other debts include $41,024 to Chase Card Services and $102,051 to TCH of Ogden, UT, which offers fuel cards and other financing services.

Run on plastic till you can't run anymore, and then get protection from the courts. Individuals have been doing that for years. The bills don't seem that high to me,how many trucks and drivers are we talking here? I guess they have 80 left from a high of 150, and the amounts owed were picked from a lengthy list.

Hoosier Tradewinds owner says company has paid its drivers
7/25/08
Quote:
The owner of an Indiana trucking firm says the company’s recent bankruptcy filing hasn’t stopped owner operators and company drivers from being paid.
Hoosier Tradewinds of Arcadia, IN, filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 10. Since then, the company has arranged payments for drivers who are owed money, according to Ben Cook, owner of Hoosier Tradewinds.
“We went through and got court orders and had all the owner-operators receive their settlement,” Cook told Land Line in a telephone interview on Thursday, July 24.
